This gueuze-like beer is brewed by the Verhaeghe on behalf of the guild "Heren van Lier" vzw.
Fun fact: The Guild 'Heren van Lier' decided to have Caves brewed again in 1976. Since then, it can be found in abundance in the Lier region, where it is a regional specialty. It therefore has the subtitle 'Het bier van Lier'. "In principle", Caves may only be served in Lier and in the own cafes of the Verhaeghe brewery. The Heren van Lier adhere to this rule and if an exception has to be made for whatever reason, a little Lier soil is scattered on the tap place (source: Wikipedia).

Bottle at the Jim=John tasting, Den Haag. Poured a clear chestnut brown colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is sour and rather glue like with a sweet tooth decaying flavour. Truly awful.

Bottle shared by Deanso @ Jim is John tasting. Clear rusty amber color, no real head. Smell sour, burned plastic, barnyard. Taste lightly sourish but a lot of sugary sweetness, funk, vinegar and barnyard. Don’t like it.

25cl from Dranken Geers, BB 15/03/2013 Cuivrée/ambrée, col crémeux/ocre épais.

Bottle. Bright and clear amber gold, small white head that settles quickly. Aroma of dirty feet and sour lemons. Taste is funky, dusty lemon soda. Interesting stuff.

Botella. Pours tea colored. Nose of caramel, vinegar, wood, yeast and fermented apples. Taste of grain, old coffee grounds, wet wood, lightly soured apple and vinegar. Yeasty. Odd notes.

Bottled 250ml. -Copper coloured, small to medium white head, sour wine nose with notes of wood. Light citric and sourish aroma with notes of roasted malt and berries. Quite unpleasant vinegary finish but otherwise ok sour ale.
