Bottle 330ml @ Geokkjer
Pours slightly hazy with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, yeast, sugar, caramel and hint of banana. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter with a slightly funky and caramel finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

One of the lesser known Witkap Paters, the dubbel is a dark brown beer under a creamy, off-white head, with a dryish, malty character, caramelly, yeasty with subdued fruitiness and a leafy, hop bitterish finish. Since 1981. Should get more attention, though it is not a world class masterpiece in this style, but I like this brewery’s old school, low profile approach.

Original Belgian dubbel beer. Yeasty and lively body, notes of malt, herbs and nice chocolate.

Dark brown with medium off-white head. Very strange herbal sweetrness, some caramel, very flowery, like laundry detergent. Later some light watery chocolate. Medium sweet, medium bodied. Strange stuff, watery, don’t like it much.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein trübes rötlichbraunes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch nach getrockneten Früchten, Hefe, Karamell. Geschmack hefig, Karamell, Früchte, leicht gewürzig.

Schön dunkel Farbe, angenehmer Geruch nach dunklem Kandis und Malz. Der Antrunk ist mild-säuerlich, leicht malzig-mild. Für die 7% nicht sonderlich voluminös. Ganz leichte Röstmalzaromen und Karamell sind vorhanden, aber kaum ausgeprägt - obwohl das Bier inzwischen etwa 15° warm ist. Der Nachgeschmack ist mild-weich, angenehm, aber auch sehr wässrig-neutral. Leicht süßlich.
--> eher sehr enttäuschend. Gut zu trinken, sehr süffig, aber sonst eigentlich nichts! Außerdem enthält das Bier neben den üblichen Zutaten Mais - etwas, das meiner Meinung nach in einem guten Bier nichts zu suchen hat! Allein deswegen wäre es schon abwertungswürdig - wenn es nicht sowieso schon so wässrig-geschmacklos wäre....Sehr enttäuschend!!

bottle pours dark brown good white head smells bretty high carbo bretty , earthy , kinda sweet taste . very strange . i like it !

Flasche (33 cl) von Hopduvel, Gent. - Goldbraun. Der Antrunk ist für ein Dubbel überraschend schlank und fruchtig, röstmalzig-süß aber mit leichter pikanter Säure. Im Hintergrund perfekt auf die Süße abgestimmte, zart-fruchtige Hopfennoten. Sehr angenehmes, außergewöhnlich fruchtiges Dubbel. - Enthält leider auch Mais, der aber glücklicherweise nicht herauszuschmecken ist. Mais hat in Bier nichts verloren!
