Bottled (huge thanks to Mikkel!), shared with gnoff in Göteborg. Poured a pitch black body with a gray/brown head that went away slowly. Ethanol and nice slightly roasty but soft maltiness in the nose. Some dust. Hm. A big earthy roasty bitterness, dry maltiness too much alcohol (over paradise) some fruity notes (sticky orange syrup?). Very warming. Again way better than the regular thing, not as brilliant as the peat version, but good enough despite some early missteps.

375mL bottle split with manuchampions, pours black with a substantial creamy tan head. Aroma of whisky, lots of sweetness, dark chocolate, coffee and licorice. Flavour of sweet caramel, whisky, chocolate, licorice and a slight alcohol burn - though the ABV is extremely well hidden for being 17.5%. Great stuff - about as good as I could hope for given the high alcohol and whiskey barrel.

RBESG 10 Grand Tasting at the Brasserie 4:20 Warehouse. Big thanks to Alex for allowing us liberate this beer from his warehouse shelves! Black beer. Creamy tan head. Lovely sweet dark malt. Sweet black coffee, a little chocolate and some very well joined up whisky. Finishes warming and a little spicy. Has improved with a few months of aging.

Another 3 years has taken most of the heat off of this beer. But it’s also turned quite powdery dry and the coffee is a lot more bitter. Very rich but never an easy drinking beer!

Pitch black with a medium dark beige head. Sweet aroma with burned malt, espresso, dark chocolate, whiskey, wood and hops. Very sweet flavour with burned malt, dark chocolate, espresso, hops, whiskey, wood and hints of vanilla. Finished sweet with warming alcohol.

Bottled. A pitch black beer - ofcourse ;-) with a dark brown head. The aroma has strong notes of roasted malt as well as notes of medium notes of dextrose and a bit of alcohol. The flavor has powerful notes of roasted malt and dextrose as well as medium notes of wood and alcohol, and just a bit of whiskey, leading to a sweet dextrose finish. Too much original black not enough barrel finish for my liking.

Bottle 37,5 cl. Courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours pitch back with a tiny light brown head. Aroma of hard roasted malts, sweet vanilla and whisky with a distinct booziness. Massive body, lots of burned malt, vanilla and dextrose with pleasant whisky accents, ashes and wood. Very boozy finish. Hard to drink and digest, but still quite enjoyable. 030410

Bottled. Dark color, brown head. Heavy and thick aroma of roasted malt, molasses, chocolat, coffee, alcohol, whisky. Very alcoholic taste, thick roasted malt, bitter. Same as with the original black, promising aroma, but too alcoholic in taste.
