Bottle, shared by Meilby. A black one, topped by a big, tan head. Didn’t expect that size of head, but it looks really, really nice, sure deserving a 5 on appearance. Alcohol, burnt malts, whisky and notes of vanilla and soy on the nose. The flavor is pretty much the same, with lots of dark sugary sweetness and a very evident alcohol flavor and mouth warmth. It’s full-bodied and almost sticky on the palate. The finish lasted for a really long time, I still felt the taste of it when I entered the cab to go home after finishing the beer. Well, I liked the beer, but it almost disappointed (sic) after the Islay barrel aged one we had just before this one. 110114

375 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 17.5%. Pitch black colour, large brown head. Very malty and sweetish aroma, roasty, strong notes of whisky, vanilla and oak. Intense roasty and very sweet flavour, notes of strong coffee, whisky and vanilla. Alcohol burn throughout. Too much of the good stuff.

Bottle. Black with a nice tan head. Good aroma of whisky, barrel, roasted malt, some smoke and alcohol. The taste was on the sweet side, heavy with alcohol. Still an excellent beer and rather complex.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye (best before of 15/07/19). Pours with a black body and a faint head. Aromas of chocolate, whisky/whiskey, tons of alcohol. Flavors are caramel, chocolate milk, boozy, port, bitter and more alcohol. Syrupy. Good.

Bottle from Beer Merchants. Black pour with a tan head. Dark chocolate, coffee, raisins, vanilla and caramel aromas. Flavours of dark chocolate, smoke, licorice, oak and wood. Peaty. Huge alcohol burn. Long deep finish of sweet malts and licorice.

At Borefts BF 2010. Superb. I love it. As I don’t normally like BA beers, and Black is one of favourites, I was a little suspcious. But the whisky is quite subtle on this beer. Good heat. Gorgeous.

Bottle at Borefts Beer Festival 2010, courtesy of Mikkel and the boys - thanks! I was not terribly fond of the base beer, even after being induced to try it three times (peer pressure rears its ugly head). The barrel definitely makes it more drinkable, although it’s still powerful stuff.

37.5 cl bottle thanks to Marko, on September 24, 2010BB 15/07/2019Black color, big brown head. Sweet, some peat, alcohol, also chocolate scent. Some fruits as well. Smooth, sweet, firey, alcohol, licorice taste. Lingering roasted, sweet, bitter aftertaste. Smooth mouth feel. Medium high bitterness. Gut warming alcohol.Much better than the original Black, as I remember it. Still way too much alcohol.
