Bottled 375 ml (Beer Hunters, BB 07/2019, vintage 2009)
Pitch black, tiny brown color. First impression about aroma: perfumic then dark malts dominate, whisky notes are very faint. Medium to full-bodied. Very sweet beer. Alcohol, typical Black’s herbal bitterness, whisky. This is clearly "Black + added whisky". Straightforward. Still after 3 years has more potential with cellaring.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a large dark brown foamy head with excellent retention and some good lacing. Aroma of whisky is quite strong with some light vanilla notes and some light roasted malt notes. Taste is bit hot with some warming alcohol and clear whisky notes which are balanced by sweet rich black chocolate notes. Body is full with good carbonation and some alcohol ester notes are clearly present. A bit too much whisky for my taste with alcohol being a bit too present as well thought the base beer is still very enjoyable.

During Mikkel’s and Thomass’ visit in Athens, Oct 2009. Pitch black wiht tiny brown head. Very roasted malt aroma, sugar, alcohol, vanilla, wood, some disntant whiskey notes in the background. Nice mouthfeel, roasted malt aroma, coffee, vanilla, wood, boozier than the other barel treatment. Nice .

Black colour with almost no head. The aroma starts showing some tobacco and other signs of age. But the flavour is holding up nicely, bold beer, sweet, full bodied, with some spirit.
Aging, but still excellent.

It pours a very thick and oily black color, with just few sparse bubbles. The aroma is not very strong, but quite interesting, with dusty chocolate, cocoa nibs, coffee grains, tobacco; light cardboard too; it smells almost like an old grocery store in traditional villages. Strong body, the mouthfeel is actually less oily than expected; the flavor is sweet as usual, with very strong chocolate and some more roasted malt in the final; traces of whiskey. Correct bitterness. Well balanced, in its powerdom.

Thanks to yespr for that one. Bottle looks really good. Beer in the glass deep black, a bit oily. Heavy malty and roasty aroma. Starts intense malty, quite roasty, also quite alcoholic. Finish fiery, complex malty, burning aftertaste. Finish could be a bit more balanced.

Black with a dark brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla and lots of alcohol. Flavor is very sweet and very bitter. Dry and very bitter finish with warming alcohol. Oily. Too much alcohol for my liking. 220410

Courtesy of Blazer06. Pours very dark with nice looking mocha head. The aroma offers up chocolate, dark to burnt malts and boozy whiskey. The taste delivers some roasted malts, dark roasted malts, burnt malts and some spicy black licorice. Midway and into the finish smooth sweet whiskey booze seems to hold the whole experience together. Tastes pretty good.
