Huge malt bill. Just loads of dark cereal, grainy malts. Very litle hops, and very little sweetness. This is pretty much just a malt bomb of a belgian ale. Even reminded me of a doppelbock. Medium bitter finish, with nothing but grains and cereals in the finish.

From my brother: pours brown with a beige head. Aroma is Belgian yeast, maltiness, light fruitiness. Taste is lightly sweet and quite in the fruity side. Not bad... almost a dubbel in its taste.

Bouteille 500ml. Couleur brun foncé presque opaque, mousse moka laissant un léger film. Arôme de malt torréfié, cassonade, cacao. Goût de malt caramélisé, légère amertume, levure, cacao. Carbonatation faible, corps moyen-faible.

Une bonne brune bien tourbeuse et juste assez amère... La mousse est dense et très tenace. On goûte le sucre brun, la levure et les épices et tout est bien agencé. Très bonne buvabilité.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared by Joes. Slightly unclear red color, medium to full sized beige head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma is malts, leaves, iron, overripe fruits. Tastes the same: malts, leaves, iron, overripe fruits, nuts, a hint of toasted malts. Decent body and carbonation.

Bottle @ joes. Brown colour with a small off-white head. Smells sweet, raisins, dark malte, sugary. Tastes chocolate, coffee, roasty, sweetish, nice. Medium body, soft carbo.

500ml bottle. Clear, ruby red glowing dark brown colour with average to huge, frothy, effervescent, then rapidly diminishing, minimally lacing, ochre head. Fruity, malty aroma has notes of dark berries, bramble, blueberry, black currant, chocolately background, cautious yeasty overtones. Taste is dry dark malty, minimally roasty, slightly bitter hoppy, slightly fruity, slightly herbal, less explicit hints of dark berries, more earthy, woody, mossy, some peppery yeasty spiciness. Resembles a British Premium Bitter in many areas, especially in its fruit profile, has additionally a Belgian yeasty twist. A nice one.

Purchased from the IGA in Hull, QC. Wow... this smells great !! Well-balanced between the fresh herbal hop and the caramel (sweetness)/roasted (burnt) malts. Deep copper-amber colour with a little ruby hue when light shinned through. Foamy beige head with good retention and lots of lacing. Average mouthfeel, easy to drink. The taste is not as powerful as the aromas, but still decent. Still malty, but milder, and the nice hop does appear in the finish, slightly lingering, creating bitterness and dryness. This is a really good strong brown ale (quite interesting and different). I very much enjoyed my first experience from this brewery. Can’t wait to try the others.

Bottle: Poured a deep dark brown color ale with a nice large foamy head with OK retention and some light lacing. Aroma of brown sugar and caramelized malt with light fruity ester is interesting though more powerful then expected. Taste is also an interesting mix between some brown sugar and medium caramelized malt with great fruity ester notes. Sweetness is well balance by some biscuit malt notes. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Not for everyday drinking but well brewed.
