Pannepøt (read Pannepeut) is a beer specially brewed and named as a wink to the Danish market presented at the Danish beer festival ’Københavnske Øldage 2006’ exclusively at Ølbutikkens stand. It is produced to express the brewers gratitude to all the Danish beer amateurs that drink their products daily. Pannepøt has later been available on draught and bottles at bars and shops in Belgium & Denmark. Since winter 2006, this beer’s popularity kept growing in Belgium at such a level that the production today equals Pannepot.

Fles thuis geprobeerd. Het is een donker roodbruin bier met een dun schuim. Hetbheeft een aroma van rood fruit en alcohol. De smaak is zacht zoet, fruitig, en wat wrang.

Bottled 330ml. -from Ambasada Zagreb. Murky brown coloured, small to medium sized pale beige head that went away fast, malty spicy nose. Sweet malty, caramel, dried fruits, spices, slightly sugary and and some alcohol with rather sweet finish.

Pours mid brown; looks murky dark brown in the glass. About one finger of wide bubbled scarcely persistent head. A good mix of intensity and depth in the aroma: sweet sugary (brown sugar) and caramel base, a vinous sherry-like feel, dark-dried fruits, hints of licorice and spiciness. Taste is pretty sweet upfront, with a light sour touch too, but excessively and strangely dry/astringent in finish and aftertaste, with an off the beat bitter reminiscence. Aroma notes are still there, but they are overwhelmed by that feeling. Medium to dense bodied, actually quite light for the abv, with almost no carbonation. Feels too thin for such gravity. Possibly something wrong with this bottle, but it definitely didn't meet my expectations.

Backlog October 2016. Bottle 2010 edition. Quite similar to the classic Pannepot, but feels a tad fruitier with higher carbonation. Clear dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma and taste have lots of smooth dark malt, caramel, dry fruit, wood, brown sugar, Belgium yeast and vinous alcohol. Taste is sweet but balanced with nicely integrated alcohol. Fine body and long lasting aftertaste. World class beer.
