This beer named after The Eldon Hole, one of the seven wonders of The Peak District, is a smooth, roasty stout brewed with Demerara sugar and with added complexity from the addition of Bourbon soaked oak. Caramel, coffee and chocolate flavours are married with a hint of vanilla and fine Kentucky Bourbon.

Pours an almost black colour with little copper highlights. The head is big, frothy, warm beige coloured, long lasting with some foamy lacing. Molasses aromas with dried prunes, dates over the roasted malts and hints of oak barrel smokiness. This can also be felt in the taste and lingers. All-around, seems pretty thin for the style and alcohol content. Smooth overall, going down easily. Nothing too complex, but decent oak infused thin stout.

Bottle, 8%. Roasted aroma, salty and slightly smokey, raw liquorice note. Almost black colour. Small stable tan head. The flavour is also roasted and salty. Has a mild barrel note and a hint of vanilla. Much lighter body than expected.

Bottle. Pours cloudy very dark brown wit airy tan head. Clear aroma of roast, malt, coffee and barrel. Bitterish, roasty onset, with touches if coffee and malt and mild notes of fruit, taken over by intense barrellike notes, persisting into the rough and roasty afteraste. Warming alcohol presence. Decent but surprisingly light-bodied.

33cl bottle from Beer52. A glossy peaty brown colour with a bright amber gleam and a dense tan coloured head; aroma of coffee grounds and woody vanilla; smooth berry fruit taste with fudge and a hint of chocolate; followed by an aggresive herbal bitterness, then a dry woody finish. Not as smooth and mellow as I was expecting.

Bottle: Very deep amber coloured with a ruby sheen, medium sized - slowly collapsing - frothy tanned head, moderate to solid nose of toasted to roasted malt, cacao, dried berries and wanilla and vood, traces of herbal hops underneath; moderate to solid bitter-sweet flavour with a delicate acidity, nearly full bodied, very smooth; lingering bitter chocolatey and roasty finish with traces of dried fruits and vanilla. A very pleasant night cap...

330ml bottle. Sweetish, slightly roasty and syrupy with hints of wood and chocolate. Earthy, not much bourbon here.

Bottle shared with Višnja 666 and Marko. Thanks! Dark brown, off-white head. Roasty, wood, light leather. Smooth and dry. Medium body, moderate carbonation, moderately dry finish. A bit to light for an Imperial Stout.
