This beer named after The Eldon Hole, one of the seven wonders of The Peak District, is a smooth, roasty stout brewed with Demerara sugar and with added complexity from the addition of Bourbon soaked oak. Caramel, coffee and chocolate flavours are married with a hint of vanilla and fine Kentucky Bourbon.

0.33 l bottle from 'Biermuda', best before February 2018. Pitch black with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish, malty, moderately roasty aroma of dark chocolate, hazelnut, coffee and a touch of vanilla. Quite sweet, moderately bitter, malty, quite roasty taste of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, some vanilla and hints of hazelnut, followed by a medium long, rather roasty-bitter, slightly earthy-dry finish. Medium to full body, slightly creamy and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Bourbon and oak are very subtle, other than that it's a well-balanced, yet intense and saturating beer.

Bottle. Black colour, small head with decent lacing. Aroma is quite much whisky, a bit of vanilla and dark chocolate. Lacks body. A bit disappointing.

Bottle. Opaque deep brown to black pour. An inch tall beige stable head. Aroma: chocolate cake, tiramisu, brown bread, toast & toffee, minor roast, a trace of bourbon. Complex. Mefium body. Medium dry taste. This time fairly roasty. Dark chocolate. A bourbon drop. Minor oak. Light plus finishing bitterness. Elegant and tasty.

Bottle, 0.33l. Pitch black color with thin creamy light brown head. Aroma of wood, vanilla, roasted malt, coffee, milk and bourbon with mild medicinal note. Taste starts with medium sweet roasted malt, chocolate and nuts, follows by coffee, dark fruit and bourbon, mouthfeel is smooth, while finish is mild bitter. Full body, creamy texture and average carbonation in palate. Very quaffable for imperial stout...

06.07.2017, 0,33l bottle @ home:
Nice light brown fizzy-creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet mineraly, lactose, dark sugar, dark malts, minerals, weeds, butterscotch, sour coffee, oak. Taste is harsh metallic, kind of neutral, weeds, minerals, bark, hay, paper, lactose, dark malts, butterscotch, alcohol, sour coffee. Medium bitterness, harsh mineraly mouthfeel. Just, why...?!
