DNA New World IPA is a perfect beer of two halves. We’ve combined the best of UK and American brewing to create a toasty, nutty, hoppy beer which brings a taste of US craft beer to British drinkers at a very respectable 4.5%.
More than just another American import!
This beer celebrates some of the world’s best brewing expertise coming together to create one exciting brew.
Dogfish Head, founded by Sam Calagione, is famous for its inimitable style and “extreme” beers.
At the centre of DNA is Dogfish’s signature 60 Minute IPA (so-called due to the length of time the beer spends in the boil with hops being continuously added). The Charles Wells team then add their ‘old world’ brewing expertise to the DNA to produce this seriously good beer!

Bottle from Ocado; clear amber pour with a frothy white head, light malt and citrus, taste is fairly non descript, light malt, feint citrus, very little bitterness, very wishy washy.

Cask at the Guildford Arms, Edinburgh. Pours orange with off-white head. Citrus, fruity, hoppy aroma and flavor.

Bottle shared. Pours clear dark golden with an off white head. Aroma of biscuity malt, light fruits, caramel and toffee. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Light medium bodied with soft carbonation.

33cl bottle via Jmgrenuk. thin white head. Clear amber pour. Nice bitterness. Average.

330ml bottle: BBD 26 Jan 15. Poured into a La Chouffe badged stemmed tulip at home on 31 Oct 14. I shared it with no one! Looked good, clear body of amber liquid, carbonation bubbles rising through to the off-white blanket of foam on top. Mild aroma of not much, hints of maltiness and piney hops but not a lot of anything really. The taste was a blend of semi-sweet maltiness and mini-hop bitterness: nothing different, interesting, or unpleasant: just predestrian. Medium bodied with maybe a little too much fizz (carbonisation).

Cask at the Castle, Bedford. Dark brownish-gold. Pleasant but light aroma of white grape and elderflower. No surprises in the standard bitter taste: bitter/sour with some astringency. Slightly bitter aftertaste. Very nice without quite living up to hype. Much better in the cask than the bottle.

Bottle. Morrisons. Clear, pale amber. Film of sticky, white head. Smells like an amber ale. Red fruit and caramel. Overly sugary. Taste is light sweet. Some woody dryness. Sugary palate. Finishes with an artificial sweetener thing. Not very nice.

Bottle from Morrisons Newark. Now how did I miss this beauty. A Charles Wells Dogfish Head collab? Clear brown amber lasting beige head. Lime on the aroma for some reason. Almost artificial lime. Then some hop and citrus. It’s a bit odd. It’s like a lime flavoured session ipa. Not terrible but not good and distinctly odd. Made me look sideways at it several times.
