DNA New World IPA is a perfect beer of two halves. We’ve combined the best of UK and American brewing to create a toasty, nutty, hoppy beer which brings a taste of US craft beer to British drinkers at a very respectable 4.5%.
More than just another American import!
This beer celebrates some of the world’s best brewing expertise coming together to create one exciting brew.
Dogfish Head, founded by Sam Calagione, is famous for its inimitable style and “extreme” beers.
At the centre of DNA is Dogfish’s signature 60 Minute IPA (so-called due to the length of time the beer spends in the boil with hops being continuously added). The Charles Wells team then add their ‘old world’ brewing expertise to the DNA to produce this seriously good beer!

Amber to light brown. Malty aroma with just a hint of pineapple citrus. Malty flavour. Somewhat lacking in hops. Light bodied and misses depth.

Bottle from Tesco. It pours clear amber with a medium off-white head. The nose is bready, toasted grain, biscuit, earth and tinned fruit. The taste is bitter-sweet, pine, toasty grain, citrus peel, spice, earth and tinned fruit with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Not very good. Sweet and earthy. I expected better from DFH, but maybe not Wells...

bottle from Tesco Honiton. Golden colour, white head and good hoppy nose. Medium-bodied malty base, just about enough to support the aromatic hops that add a citrusy and slightly resiny touch, also some pine.

Tap@Pied Bull, Streatham, London (12/08/2014) - golden amber pour with good white head. Fruity medium hoppy aroma and taste, some caramel, toffee, some light tropical and citrus fruits, better than anticipated.

330ml bottle from Tesco. Golden colour with a small white head. A sweet floral aroma. Flavour is hoppy with caramel and malt. Not much flavour and certainly not the level of hops you would expect.

Copper amber, clear, frothy white head
Aroma - slight citrus lemon, slight caramel, very little aroma
Taste of soft citrus lemon, soft caramel, slight toasted malt, dab of grassy hop, much lower amount of hops then expected, very dull
Palate - soft carb, medium body, fairly oily. Finish as main flavour, slightly gooey finish
Overall - very lackluster, not craft beer, not an IPA, ordinary supermarket tosh, adding Dogfish Head label is all marketing bullshit

12oz bottle. Pours a clear gold, medium white head, no lacing. Aroma of pine and citrus, caramel and bread. Taste is heavier on the malt than the aroma suggests. Still a nice balanced if thin flavor, some hop bitterness combats the malty sweetness. Overall way more of the Wells influence here than the Dogfish Head.

330ml bottle from Tesco, Camberley. Straw coloured with a fast fading white head and light carbonation; aroma of over stewed hops; chewy malt taste; with a sweet caramel finish. An ocean away from the real Dogfish Head IPAs.
