Bottle. Dark brown color. Malt, dried fruit and just a hint of smoke in the aroma. Malty sweet, soft roasty flavor with raw bourbon. Just a hint of smoke in the aftertaste. Bourbon barrels and this beer are not a very happy marriage, Try it with De Heer van Gramsbergh. Still a decent beer, though.

Sampled @ Pint Winterbierfestival Gouda, 2016. Murky orange brown color, average sized off-white head. Aroma is weird and unexpected: light peat, smoke, malts. Taste malts, slightly sweet, again some peat and smoke. Perhaps the slightest touch of bourbon, but in a blind tasting I wouldn’t have noticed it. Not very good.

From bottle at Winterbierfestival Gouda 2016. Hazy, brownish amber with a thin, creamy layer. Sweetish-malty aroma of caramel, vanilla and honey. Sweetish-malty taste of caramel, vanilla, honey and brown sugar, followed by a medium long, slightly bitter, slightly boozy finish. Medium body, slightly oily mouthfeel, flat. Okay.

Bottle sampled at PINT Winterbier festival Gouda 2016. Dark amber/light brown with cream head. Raisins, overripe banana and prune, bourbon, caramel toffee. Bottle sample at PINT Winterbierfestival ’16. Brown colour, light-beige head. Aroma of bourbon, ripe fruits, sweet malts, hint of plastic/fingerpaint (must be the smoked malts), wood. Flavour is sweet, bourbon, vanilla, wood, hint of smoke/fingerpaint, ripe fruits, malts, bittersweet finish. Medium bodied. OK.

Thank you for sharing people! Sampled bottled @ “Gouda Winterbier Festival 2016”. Rating is for the Bourbon version. Dark murky brown amber with little head. Nose is big sweet vanilla bourbon with excessive notes of varnish & acetone, big sugary sweetness. Taste is very messy and massive on acetone and varnish mixing oddly with massively sweet bourbon, vanilla, sugar, smoke & herbal notes. Very fizzy, body. Massively messy beer with way too much varnish. It is a shame, could have been decent.

Pint Winterbierfestival, Gouda 2016. Gedeeld met de ratebeer clan! caramel bruinig met beperkte kaki kraag. aroma van hout, rokerig, donker fruit, maar erg aan de rokerige kant, bourbon nauwelijks merkbaar. smaken zijn matig zoet, gerookte mout, slap bitter, vanille, hout, fruit, rare smaken ’t zal de bourbon zijn, maar niet één die ik echt lekker vind, verder matige body en gewoon te dominant aanwezige rokerigheid --- Beer merged from original tick of Winterbier (Bourbon) on 15 May 2018 at 14:54 - Score: 6
