Draught at In de Wildeman, Amsterdam
Beautiful dark mahogany color, with creamy head. Aroma of candi sugar, some sweetness and fruits, light sweat. Good body strength and round mouthfeel; good caramel flavor, clean, a bit nutty, with only light residual sweetness; correct bitterness.
Good stylish beer, solid, dynamic, I dig it.

33 cl. swing top bottle @ home, bought @ Mitra. Brown red colour with a thin quickly disappearing tan head. Aroma of caramel, coffee, plums and blackberries. Taste is nicely bitter with more roastiness. Typical Christoffel mouthfeel and aftertaste; at first not sensational but then the deepness and matureness of the beer impresses. Great bock!

Bottle, 12C. Very dark brown with a light tan head that fades to a coat. Lovely aroma of prunes, raisins, singed dark sugars, vanilla. Lighter bodied than suggested by the aroma. Sweet and fruity with some roasted flavours and chocolate. Unfortunate astringent coffee and metallic notes at the end along with nice balancing bitterness. Even without that at the end it would have been a bit of a let down after the aroma. Even with it it’s pretty good.

Deep chocolate malty aroma. Pours a deep clear brown with a tan head that fades quick. The roasted malts are on the strong side.

Pours dark brown with a small fading head.Nose shows golden syrup, caramel, prunes, figs, sultanas. Very fruit. Tempting.Flavours show the same dark fruits and caramel, along with sweet, bready, melanoidin malt. Some booze creeps in in the finish. A bit cloying.Could use a little more carbonation, body is overly syrupy.

Pours a clean deep red-copper colour with a frothy beige head that stays a while. Lacing is present, but disappears quickly. Big nutty smell at first, and then some dark fruits appear. Plums, raisins and then some caramel and spices. The alcohol is also there. It nicely disappears in the taste and mouthfeel though. Quite smooth overall. Flavours of roasted malts, nuts, mild caramel and the dark fruits are mostly hidden in the back. Damn smooooooth !

Bouteille 330ml.
