Bottle: Poured a cloudy deep brown color ale with a medium foamy head with medium retention and some lacing. Aroma of heavily caramelized malt with light brown sugar notes. Taste is also dominated by heavy caramel malt with notes of brown sugar and more residual sugar then I had expected. Body is quite full with medium carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Heavier and sweeter then expected though still very enjoyable.

Fles 33cl thuis. Apart. Droppig? Metaalachtig? Niet mijn smaak. (1-2011). 2/5. Bokzoet, licht syrupy, pruim, caramel, licht plakkerig. (4-11-2022).

This Dunkel poured a dirsty dark red colour with an almost non-existant bright white head. To the nose there are scents of ripe fruit, raisins, alcohol and spice. First sip was smooth with flavours of tea, apple cider, spice, hopps and raisins. Finish is slightly bitter with a warming alcohol vapour lingering.

clear dark nutty brown, small film smooth light brown head. looks very good, but i could use a little more head. sweet malty, nutty, very faint dark fruity aroma, alcohol, sugar in the aroma. flavor is dark caramel, weird faint flowery sort of hoppy note, faint dark fruits, syrup, faint nuts. This dutch interpretation (called bok) of the german bock style, is a little different than the german ones i’m used to. nice woody bitter caramelly bitterness towards the end. Beer tastes better and better as i get used to it. good winter season beer.

(Draught at The Rake, Southwark, London, 22 May 2010) Reddish amber colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, slightly vinous nose with notes of dried fruit and caramel. Malty taste with caramel, dried fruit (apricots and prunes) and red berries. Slightly vinous with a bittersweet finish. Almost full body, fairly sweet. Nice and tasty bock beer.

bottle, as Winterse Bok, kindly delivered by Bierkoning - thanks a lot! Deep brown colour, persistent beige head. Full-bodied, intensively malty with dark malts, roasetd malts and honey. Shy hints of cinnamon, clove and coriander are also present. Lingering finish with just the right amount of bitter and aromatic hops tuning in.

Pours deep mahogany into a snifter. Cola head quickly recedes to hug rim. Molasses aromas. Thin and fizzy with dark caramel and molasses upfront and a lasting bread finish.
