25cl bottle shared with Kermis. thin pink head. Clear light burgundy pour. Cherry aroma. Sweet cherry aftertaste. Not great at all.

The fruit version of Rince Cochon, made by Haacht for the French market, where strong, sweet, red fruit ales enjoy a lot of popularity these days (as is the case in Wallonia as well - see my next rating...). Creamily lacing, very pale pinkish lilac, moussy head over a deep vermillion red, clear beer with fairly strong sparkling. Aroma of strawberry ice cream, cooked red cabbage sweetened with brown sugar (combination of sugar and pasteurisation, probably), wet cloth, fruit bubblegum, clear corn like in a standard pale lager, banana candy, grenadine mixed with sparkling water, pale malt sweetishness, artificial cranberry juice, cough candy. Very sweet and sugary onset, concentrated ’forest fruit’ extracts, artificial raspberry, strawberry, cranberry and sweet cherry which all taste alike in this unnatural form, cloying but fortunately not exaggeratedly so, with an ascorbic acid-kind of lemonade quality to it as well as fairly strong, fizzy carbonation; supple and smooth mouthfeel, pale malt and corn sweetishness apparent but buried under the artificial fruit extracts and the overload of sugar, leading to a finish which is basically a continuation of the same: some lean pale malts, but primarily a lot of fruit bubblegum sweetness. A brief, very faint echo of ’deep’ hops lurks underneath for a moment, providing a little bit of structure against the sweetness, but the sugar does stick to the throat nevertheless. Alcohol remains hidden, though a faint ’glow’ can be felt when swallowing. I dislike this particular (sub)style of fruit beers, but this is not the worst example I had so far: though clearly artificially sweet and clearly ’corny’, there is still a certain beer-like quality to it, which is a plus, at least in my book. Would have been better if unpasteurized (so without the undeniable pasteurization odour), but admittedly I expected less from this. Still, not my kind of beer at all, way too sweet and too ’industrial’.

Can. Ruby color, thin white head fades to nothing very quickly. Cherry nose.

Kraftig duft av bringebær og marsipan. Dunkel rød farge. Tynn hinne skum. Frisk søtlg smak av bringebær. Kort sagt bringebær brus med alkohol ikke noe å sitte og drikke for mye av alt for søtt etter min smak.
