Tap. Sample at Hop Hideout’s new premises, Sheffield. Cheers Will. Cloudy amber. Bubbly, lasting, off white head. Aroma of caramel toffee. Raisin. Yep, figs. Hint of ginger spice. Some bready malts. Taste is soft sweet. Light, tangy bitter. Smooth mouthfeel. Drinks well under the ABV. Gentle spice finish. Nice one.

Bottle split at Chriso Easter tasting, thanks to Craig, 04/04/15. Golden amber with a moderate off white covering. Nose is rich candied fruits, spice, caramel, faint yeast, toasted sugars. Taste comprises sweet licks, candied fruit rinds, figs, dates, vanilla, caramel. Full bodied, fine carbonation, sweet tunes and warming alcohol in the close. Ok quad.

ChrisOs Easter Tasting. Hazy amber beer, small cream colour head. Palate is airy and a little crisp. Sweet caramel malts, toffee too. Tangy spicy dried fruits. Light spicy finish. Not bad, maybe could do with some time.

Tap@ TCBW2015. Pours deep amber, thick white head. Aroma has caramel, raisins, plummy notes. Ripe fruity stuff, sweet, too sweet actually. Surypy finish. What a shame.

Draught @ TCBW 2015

Pours dark reddish orange with a white head. Aroma of berries, raisins, toffee, caramely malts, sweet syrup and yeasty notes. Taste is sweetish, caramely and syrupy with loads of toffee, some raisins, ripe fruits and yeast. Finish is sweet, sticky and ripe fruity with loads of caramel, toffee and syrup. Too sweet for my taste.

Draught @ Tallinn Craft Beer Weekend 2015
Aroma has raisins and sweet fruity tones. Flavour has sweet fruity tones, raisins and somewhat artifical sweetness. Alcohol is present but does not disturb. Strong but lacks depth; the basic failure of a strong Belgian from a brewery outside Belgium.

500ml bottle from Appellation Wines, shared with the Mrs. what with it being Mothers Day and all. Pours clear red to amber, thin white head. Aromas are light cream, Belgian yeast, fruit. Taste is more fruit, plums, prunes, more spicy Belgian yeast. Quite light bodied and easy drinking for the strength. Reckon it’ll be even better with a few years on it.

Keg at Six D North. It pours orange-amber with a small white head. The nose is sweet, juicy, figgy pudding, plum, fruit cake, light spice, candied fruits, brown bread and bubblegum. The taste is bitter-sweet, figgy pudding, brown bread, warming alcohol, plum, red grape, cake, pear drops, raisin, spice, light umami and caramel with a warming finish. Fullish body and fine carbonation. Really loving the aroma on this one. Nice quad indeed.

Bottle from Appellation Wines Comely Bank. Appearance - deep amber to plum with a decent fluffy head. Nose - candy sugar coming through rather than figs. Taste - candied sugar and then black jack sweets. Palate - medium bodied with a big tangy texture and a fairly good finish. A bit sweet but decent Belgian yeast tang on the finish so works. Overall - yeah it’s definitely a quad. Not sure if the black jack note is the caramelised figs or not.
