Bottle split at L42, thanks to Kenneth, 18/05/17. Very light black coloured beer with a solid tan cap. Nose is earthy, dark fruit rinds, spice, toffee, berry fruit esters. Taste comprises treacle toffee, charr, black peppery spice, vinous, dark fruit rinds, molasses, trace of barrel. Full bodied, fine carbonation, warming alcohol in the close. Ok sipper but ultimately lacks depth considering the ABV.

From the tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours almost completely black with brownish foam, very fine. Aroma is licorice, quite a spicy feeling, tickling the nose, hazelnut. Body is creamy, dense, with a hint of astringency and lots of stickiness. Taste is a wonderful mix of sweet and bitter, with the former sticking around in the final. Finish is long and VERY pleasant

Bottle from Appellation Wines Dalry Rd. Appearance - opaque black with a nice crema head. This subsides a bit and then there’s the general appearance of crude oil. Nose - booze and wood. Molasses. Taste - more wood and booze. Sticky molasses and some dark chocolate in there. Palate - full bodied with a deep weighty texture (like crude oil again). The finish is a bit sticky as could be expected. There is some dryness from the malt and wood barrel in there though. Overall - this is good and I think it’ll be very good in another 6 months.

Bottle from Deeside Drinks Emporium. It pours jet black with a decent tan head. The aroma is rich, unctuous, roasted malt, chocolate gateaux, heady whisky vibe, vanilla, rocky road, treacle and cinder toffee. The taste is rich, dark roasted malt, chocolate cake, cacao, toffee, slick, wood, warming booze, whisky, chewy malt, plum, dark fruits and some christmas pudding with a warming finish. Full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth - feel. Rich and filthy. Good depth of flavour. Moreish.
