Bottle. Hazy amber-reddish color with white head. Aroma is booze, grapes, wood sugar. Taste is wood sugar, brown sugar, grapes, tannins, sour. Oily mouthfeel with fizzy, but somehow small-bubbled carbonation. Weird.

THT August at Kwartje. Sampled from bottle. Hazy amber with thin white head. Big sweet caramel malts, blue cheese, grapes, lactose, wood. Big sweet, moderate sour and bitter. Medium body and soft carbonation. I’m not sure the sourness is intentional which worries me.

0.33 l bottle from ’Hopfenrausch’, best before April 2022. Clear, very dark reddish brown with a thin, soapy, slowly diminishing, off-white layer. Slightly sweetish, sourish, malty and a bit fruity aroma of caramel, vanilla, oak, some apples and red grapes. Sweetish, a bit sourish, slightly malty and a bit fruity taste of caramel, lots of oak, raisins, vanilla, some apples and red grapes, followed by a medium long, slightly bitter, moderately woody-tart, slightly warming-alcoholic finish. Medium body, slightly astringent and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Really pleasant, quite complex and well-balanced. The barrel notes are clearly detectable without being over-whelming and the light acidity gives it a refreshing touch. Nice!
