Draught at Pressklubben, Stockholm. Clear deep golden, creamy head. Fruity orange aroma. Sweet and dense with rounded mouthfeel and near full body. Flavour of marzipan and grain with marked alcohol warmth in a finish with low bitterness. A golden winter warmer, working nicely on a -12C day.

From tap, Kerstbier Festival 2009. Pours clear and golden orange with a huge, chalk white and thick head, leaving a nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is sweet malty and light caramelish. Sweet malty and vague spiced flavoured. Light bitterness just lurking through. Dry phenolic into the far finish.

1 year matured. Hazy golden ale with a thick white head. A pleasant grassy aroma, with light Brettanomyces notes, biscuitty. In mouth, light sweet malt with an interesting catty hop, a bit resinous, with a well balanced body. A good and interesting find, recommended by JorisP. Enjoyed on tap at Kulminator, Nov. 2006, with Joris and Carlos.

On tap @ Café Gollem, last winter. Tastes almost the same as the normal Brigand, with addition of a few spices and a bit of extra sourness. No improvement of the regular Brigand, still very nice.

Draught as Brigand Kerstbier. Semi-sweet, semi-malty flavour. Finishes with a sour bitterness. Almost clear amber colour. Nice and creamy, stable white head.

(Bottle 37,5 cl) Comes as "Brigand Christmas Beer" at 9% ABV. Fully golden beer with a decent, white head. Some sweet malt. Very potent and solid brew without much refinement. Alcohol is very evident. Almost malt liquorish. 220898

A clear orange beer with a nice lasting white head. The aroma is sweet, slightly spicy with notes of yeast. The flavor is sweet with notes of yeast, oranges, spices, and malt. Not a lot of Christmas in this one, but nice.

(Somewhat aged sample) Quite hazy orange; slim white rim. Powerful orang/orangezestnose, with both nutmeg and oxidation (not thàt old!). Spicey-bitter main taste. Different flavours as from rather exotic spices (nutmeg, horseradish, galanga root) to quite medicinal. Palate seems to give a bit of overyear hops and vanilla. Rather refreshing despite obviously well-bodied (and oxidation from the nose!); some alcohol evident. Aftertaste is still spicey-medicinal and hint at oxidation. Too much is too much: this medicinal thing is a bit too overpowering. At the same time, it might be the reason for the oxidation not to come forward in the taste. New version, on draught only. Same recipe as Brigand, but lagered on vessel for 1 yr Very surprising nose with a few seconds of Brett, even including horseblanket, saddlesoap), going into a flowery, honeyish aroma, reverting to lemon afterwards (8/10), Taste is much sweeter, and especially more alcoholic than the nose. There’s some perfumey malts, even almonds. Retronasal very neutral, just a little perfumey. (7/10).

Clear golden color. Short lasting head. Malty aroma, bit smoky from cigarettes (not because my neighbour was smoking). Taste is a bit malty again, moderately sour. Alcohol is hardly present. Decent refreshing palate, moderately lasting.
