Mama's Little Yella Pils - Our upcoming new canned good is a small-batch version of the beer that made Pilsen, Czechoslovakia famous. Mama's is made with hearty amounts of pale malt, German specialty malts, and a blend of traditional (Saaz) and 21st century Bavarian hops. Our first canned lager, it's also fermented at cool temperatures with a German yeast.

This tasteful reality Czech is the perfect antidote for the watered-down versions of pilsner clogging Americaâ's shelves. And Mama's gentle hopping (about 33 IBUs) and low ABV (just 4.7%) mean we're finally honoring consumer requests for a delicious but less-challenging beer. (Hey, we like a good low-dose session beer, too.) Look for our Gold Metal Winner on US shelves in March.

Sadly, the Feds rejected our Take Two and Call Us in the Morning line on the can.

Clear golden coloured body with a soapy white head that dissipates very fast. Aroma of fresh malt, a very light hop, some cardboard and a bit more of lemons -not too nice, but at least fresh. Medium to Light-bodied; Strong assertive malt and sugary sweetness up front fading to a mellow acidic floral citrus taste - with some light hops, I suppose. Aftertaste mild and malty, but showing some metallic and floral tastes as well. Overall, not a great beer - their other offerings are much better - but just because it’s in a can, it’s probably worth a sample. I even saved a bit in the can (instead of a glass) just to drink out of the can itself! I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased at City Beer in San Francisco, California on 21-March-2009, sampled on 16-April-2009, when the Red Wings won game 1 of the 2009 NHL playoffs!

Sampled from a 12 oz can this beer poured a straw yellow color with a huge yellow-white head. The aroma was grassy, floral and a bit tart. The flavor was sour, tangy, grassy and had light crisp floral hops. The finish was short and a bit corny. Eh.

Location: 12 oz can from Gilly's, 4/13/09

Aroma: Corn, grass, sweet malts
Appearance: As the name would suggest...a clear yella
Flavor: Malty sweetness, typical of a Pils
Palate: Light body, a little metallic
Overall Impression: Not bad for a Pils, but fairly typical. Not a whole lot special on this one, but it works for what it is trying to be.

Can. Pours with a clear golden body and a foamy white head. Aroma is saaz hops, straw, grass and sweet dough. Slight spicy hop note. Taste is malt, bread and and light spicy hops. A bit grassy and a bit thin. Fizzish. I drank this a bit too warm I think.

Can from Captain Cougar. Thanks again Tom! Golden color with a fluffy white head. Aromas of grain and noble hop - a little extra spice for a pils. Near medium body with creamy/frothy carbonation. Good feel. Flavor is a bit biscuit with lots of hop spice - even a bit peppery. Finishes well towards dry. A very good drink, but not so bitter as the standards. Makes a nice change. LIke it a lot.

Courtesy of SeaBass. Pours clear deep gold with nice white head. The aroma is grainy malts, corn flakes, sweetness and floral hops. The taste has nice crisp floral and spice hop notes to go along with sweet malts, grainy malts and corn kernels. Nice refreshing brew with modest bitterness and sweetness that hits the spot. It has an interesting corn finish.

12oz can-pours a thin dissipating white head and yellow color. Aroma is sweet grain/husky and at the beginning some banana. Taste is sweet light malt, some spice hops. A pretty malty pilsner lacking on carbonation. Thanks jwc215 for sharing this one.

can, pours clear golden, white head. Aroma is grainy, slight hoppy touch, leaning on the corn. Taste, hoppy, sweet sugary mouthfeel , medium carbonation, malty. Not bad, but really nothing special, and a lot better than the average pilsener.
