Tasting glass @ brewery. Milky citrus creamy white. Nose is milky hazy, doughy, sweeter citrus peel, elder flower. Bit too yeasty, grainy, low funk, hazy, citrus peel, touch too neutral, elderflower doesn’t pop as much as hoped, still fair.

Cloudy blond appearance with thin head. Aroma and flavour are floral and hoppy . Obvious elderflower floral sweetness.

Elderflower multi-grain saison by Ermitage, tasted there from tap (twice). Creamy, dense, papery lacing, egg-white head, cloudy to even milky straw blonde beer with ochre hue. Aroma of elderblossom indeed (almost tofu-like as is so often the case when it is used in beer), dried lemon peel, sourdough, soggy multi-grains bread, green gooseberries, unripe melon, pear, passionfruit, camomile tea. Crisp, 'greenish' onset, gooseberry-like tartness, some soapy starfruit and lemon peel acidity, fizzy carbonation accentuating its sourness, very refreshing; doughy and grainy basis, with the spiciness of the rye and soapiness of the wheat recognizable. Drying fruit tartness distracts a bit from a floral and 'meaty' elderblossom effect in the finish, meeting with a lime-like hop factor that provides mild but effective bitterness in the end. American style farmhouse ale with classic Belgian aspects to it, very well executed and original.

Tap at the source. Hazy yellow with a white head. Floral, with a grass, lemon zest, white pepper. Not very much elderflower but still very nice.

Draft @ Ermitage Taproom, post-Quintessence 2018.
