Bottle from Trinkgut near Mönchengladbach. Color: Clear amber to copper, beige off-white head. Aroma: Malty, quite a lot of caramel even for an Alt. Taste: Malty, again a lot of caramel, dark malt notes, smoke hints. Quite strong (for an Alt) hoppy backbone. Not exactly like any Alt I've had before. Cheap Alt clone... Moderate sweet and moderate bitterness. Mwah. Drinkable but I expected more from an Alt.

Klarer Bernstein im Glas. Schaumentwicklung OK. Etwas süßes Malz in der Nase. Geschmacklich Dunkelmalz, bitter, trockene Röstnoten, etwas Leder.

Bottle. Clear amber with a good white head. Aroma of malts, wet socks, minerals, grains and earthy hops. Taste is all that plus nuts, metal, caramel and grains. Herbal bitterness. Medium carbonation. My description sounds more fun than the actual drinking experience. I’d still call it ok. Can’t complain much anyway in this price category.

Sampled from 0.5 l bottle from local 'REWE', best before January 2018. Clear, dark reddish amber with a thin, frothy, almost stable, off-white head. Sweetish, slightly malty and a bit grassy-spicy aroma of caramel, toasted nuts and some straw. Slightly sweet, malty, moderately grassy-spicy and minimally roasty taste of caramel, toasted nuts, straw and traces of grains, followed by a short, moderately bitter, slightly dry, quite grassy-spicy finish. Medium body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Pretty decent Alt actually, maybe the expectations were a bit too low.
