From bottle to snifter. Cellared two years. Pours near jet black with minimal tan head. Aroma and flavor are both peaty at first. Started to fade the more it warmed, and the chocolate and coffee aspects became more pronounced. This is the second Eclipse that I have aged over 2 years that seems to pick up some peat. Wondering if that is due to an off flavor arriving after a lot of age, or from the barrel (the other was a High West Single Malt). Through the pour this became mellower.

Poured from a 22oz bottle. Aroma is rich with lots of dark chocolate, raisin, some spice plum and prunes. Medium rum notes with some faint oak. Light roast character. Some light alcohol spice. Pours black with a small, dark mocha head that recedes to the edges where it lingers. Light lacing and moderate legs. Flavor is rich and fairly sweet with a lot of chocolate, both milk and dark. Some lighter roast notes with hints of tobacco. Moderately strong fruit notes with lots of raisins, plums, prunes and some lighter cherry notes. Light alcohol spice. Medium bitterness. Moderate rum notes with some medium light oak. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied and slightly sticky with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice Eclipse with great fruit and rum notes. It has a definite spices rum character to it. Pretty decent mouthfeel and a definite improvement on the older eclipses.

Bottle @ FiftyFifty Eclipse Charity Tasting. Opaque pitch black color, average sized light brown head. Aroma is is quite faint, don’t get much more than malts and dark malts. Taste malts, brown malts, light roast, only a hint of rhum, some bitter. Quite pleasant, but the barrel aging is a bit faint. Nice though.

Bottle from Whole Foods. What a find. Pours a jet black color with a large dark beige brown head, a cascading foamy head. A huge sugary sweet nose. Molasses, sugar, dark fruit. What a flavor: dark licorice, bitter roast, heavy sweet rum, oak, lively dark fruit, tobacco. A soft wonderful palate. Just lovely. A soapy astringent licorice finish. Huge beer. Lingers sweet on the palate for a long time. One the best Eclipse versions.

Bottle thanks to Russell. Pours a very dark brown with small tan head that lasts. The aroma is strong rum, roast, dark fruits, wood. Medium mouth with strong chocolate roast, light booze, sweet throughout, very nice
