A full malt barley wine of 13% by volume, which is brewed once a year; fermented with beer and wine yeast. These are / will be beers matured on new Bulgarian oak barrels.
This type of wood has characteristics of both American oak and French oak; beautiful vanilla keys paired with spicy oak keys. Through maturing these beers for six months in these casks, they get incredibly beautiful wood / vanilla flavors. Aged for 1 year on virgin oak

Light haze on this amber beer, good pale tan head. Palate is airy, mildly dry and has decent fine carbonation. Soft rich malts, semi sweet. Tangy caramel and toffee. Light tangy fruits with a little orange peel. Interesting barleywine. Not as complex as some, but it is rich. It’s also very light considering it’s abv.

Bottle thx to Martinus, brewyear 2015 BB March 2019, large sample. Almost clear redbrown color, medium frothy head. Aroma of caramle and toffee, bit raisin, spicy, oak wood. Bit sweetness in taste, slight dry oak wood, bit spicy, slight alcohol. Base beer is good, but quite straightforward and could use a bit more complexity (on top of the superb DvdK balance), but the oak wood just gives one extra layer. I would love to see that extra sweet tooth to it.
