A heavy malt foundation includes Crystal malt for sweetness and just enough Midnight Wheat malt to push the color to black. The bitterness is huge, but balanced by malt sweetness and alcohol burn. The hop flavors and aromas range from citrus to floral to pine thanks to a delicious blend of hand-selected Chinook and Centennial hops.

Pretty goddammit amazing. Black pour from bottle. Roast malts and piney hops. As good a black ipa as there is.

Bottle. I know this was a black ipa. But I was hoping it wouldn’t be so bitter. Well, I was wrong. It started off nice. It had a nice, deep almost black color. A nice head. The aroma was really nice with a almost floral smell. The taste was slightly sweet with a touch of flowers upfront but then it turned to really, really bitter. Too much for me.

Bottle at Hundholmen, Bod. The colour is dark brown to black with a small beige head. Roasted malt in the aroma along with pine, grass, coffee and dark chocolate. Dark chocolate also in the flavour but has more pine and grapefruit. Has a silky mouth feel, medium body and bitterness. Tastefull. More IPA than stout.

(Bottle) Dark brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted, hoppy nose with black rye bread, coffee, asphalt, grapefruit, pine needles, dried apricots, liquorice and creamy chocolate. Malty, roasted hoppy taste with notes of black rye bread, black coffee, cacao, pine needles, orange peel, apricots, liquorice, burnt sugar and a generous resiny, piney bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Well made black IPA with a solid bitterness, still in excellent balance. Very nice.

Draught sample at Copenhagen Beer Festival 2017. Near black with a thin, lightly tanned head. Roasted aroma with caramel, chocolate, coffee, citrus fruits, floral hops, spruce and licorice. Taste is bitter roasted. Full bodied. Finishes lasting dry and roasted bitter with dark malts and citrus fruits. Excellent B-IPA

Bottled (MT/KS/MB February tasting). Pretty close to black colour with a small beigeish brown head. Aroma is fruity and floral hops with some pine and mild resin to it as well. Flavour is fruity, floral, some nectar, mild chocolate and some slight toffee to it as well. Tasty and rather wellbodied. Good sipper, and actually hides the alcohol rather well.

On tap at the Local Taphouse Darlinghurst. Pours translucent black. Aroma is glorious. Bitter burnt caramel, orange, pine. Flavour same notes but less refined, with a bit much alcohol burn. Delicious.
