This Vietnamese coffee version of Speedway Stout is and continues to be AleSmith's most popular variation of the ever-growing Speedway Stout collection. Since 2012 we have been adding this blend of four Vietnamese coffees, known in Vietnam as cà phê sa đá, to our popular imperial stout. The coffee beans were slowly roasted at low temperatures and then brewed by AleSmith with a traditional phin-style filter that gently percolates water through the ground coffee. The result is an intensely aromatic and bold tasting coffee that complements the notes of chocolate and roast in this massive stout.

27 September 2018. Birthday Antwerp Pub Crawl - cheers to Anke! At Gollem.
Pours cloudy black with a lasting, thin, frothy, dark beige head; little lacing. Intense & very complex aroma of vanilla, soy sauce, blackcurrant, lemon even, milk chocolate, coffee & cream, kahlua, hazelnut, dates, coffee beans, apple cake with cinnamon. Medium to heavy malty sweet onset, quite chocolatey, never cloying, lots of umami notes of soy & stew to balance it out, a bit nutty; light to medium roasted bitter in the middle, hints of coffee & fondant; retronasal, sourish accents of lemon & raisin. Dry, toasty, peppery hoppy finish, lingering coffee, cream & raisin, warming whisky alcohol. Full body, creamy, not perfectly oily texture, soft carbonation. Very deep in aroma & flavour, massively tasty... one of the best!
