A nose of coffee, roasted malts and piney hops. This medium-bodied stout has a broad depth of maltiness and a clean, dry finish.

bottle from ølbutikken. black, large thick brown head. aroma is sweet, faint fruity, roasted grains, faint alc. syrup, coffee. very slight sour/hoppy note a bit disturbing. flavor is strong roasted grans, slightly flowery sour, wood. overall very nice, quite roasted and mild, more like a porter than a stout.

Sampled at the Hopsnobbery Collective Stout tasting on 01/16/09. Pours black with a medium thin and foamy tan head that burns away to an outer ring. Spotty lacing on the glass. Earthy malt and astringent hops in the nose. Medium, dry body with flavors of dark malt and fruits, cocoa and bitter hops. The finish is earthy and malty with a lingering bitter hops aftertaste. Overall this beer shows promise but the ever-present astringency in the bottle I tried undermined it. I will have to try it again.

Pitch black coloured body with a super dense deep brown head that fades and leaves the perfect top on a beer. Aroma of - you guessed it - HOPS!! Very little else in the aroma-some malt and burnt sugars, but really the only thing very noticeable are the hops. Medium to Full-bodied; Nice hoppy taste up front - high a.a. but lingering behind are all the other tastes, the roasted malt, coffee, chocolate and light nuttiness. Aftertaste shows a lot of hops still and some sweet sugars. Overall, a nice beer - if you had your eyes closed while enjoying this one, you’d be hard pressed to pick a style of beer. Obviously, this stratles the line and is definitely worth trying either for an IPA or a stout! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Vienna, Virginia on 15 July 2006 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

22 oz bottle given to me by tjthresh. I believe this is a bottle from 2007. Pour is deep black, with a one inch dark tan head in my snifter. Head settled slowly, with a nice rocky appearance. Aroma of bitter pine hops and roasted coffee. There is also some dry fruit sweetness. Taste has a really interesting combination of the pine hops, the roasted malt and the fruit sweetness which is more like plum in the taste. Nothing is terribly dominant, great balance. The palate is very wet and mouth coating. The bitterness lasts a decently long time, as does the soft sweetness and roast. Really well done Stout, and crazy drinkable. Thanks for lugging this one back from Indiana Tom!

Rich aroma of cocoa, fudge, walnut, and maple syrup. Black pour with a medium brown head. Harmonious taste of chocolate and licorice. The licorice lingers on the palate with a subtle introduction of smoke. Medium body, yet sufficiently flavorful. Not very hoppy. This a special brew!

Bottle @ Chris_o shindig 2007. Dark black color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, light brown head. Aroma is moderate malty, dark chocolate, strong coffee, roasted. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration. Witn a nice dry finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle courtesy of Hogtownharry: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a small foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of medium bitter hops with some roasted malt. Texture is quite oily with some medium carbonation. Taste is a complex mix between some bitter roasted malt, some light chocolate notes as well as vanilla with some light bitter hops at the end. I very much enjoyed that one and I was glad that they didn’t rely only on hops.
