The Reverend, was created in tribute to the life of Sales Mgr. Tom Boogaard's grandfather, an ordained Episcopal Reverend. Tom was inspired by the life of his grandfather and wanted to create a tribute beer that contained his sterling traits. True to both our "small brewery, BIG BEERS" philosophy and to the spirit and character of the departed Reverend, this beer is strong willed, assertive, and pure of heart, a heart of candy sugar. It contains as many authentic imported Belgian specialty malts as the brewers could cram into our mash tun, and lots of Belgian dark candy sugar stirred into the brew kettle. A divinely complex and beautifully layered beer with hints of dark cherries, currants, and molasses, complimented by an underlying spiciness. Sinfully smooth considering the high alcohol content. Cellarable for 4 years.

almost clear mahogany colour, 1 cm creamy yellowish beige head; aroma and taste of soy sauce, tons of yeast, some bread, caramel and minimal dark fruity notes; to be honest, this is definitely among the worst quadrupels I’ve tasted so far...I’m disappointed...very disappointed... :-(

2011 Bottle. Pours red amber. Aroma of chocolate and dark fruits. Sweet, smooth and a little thin brew with a taste of dark fruits, chocolate fudge.

Bottle (from beergium). Pours red amber. Aroma is sweet, malt, caramel, grains. Flavor is sweet and bitter, malt, caramel, dark fruits, black currant. Feels rather thin. Overall: ok.

22 ounce bottle. Mahogany brown pour has a small creamy beige head that disappears quickly. Brandy-like aroma has notes of cherries and brown sugar. The flavor follows the nose, with additional notes of vanilla and golden raisins. Sweet malty goodness dominates the palate. Rich and warming with complex herbal hops appearing in finish. This is a wonderful brew, smooth and inviting.

Bottle/Fest. A- Butterscotch, stone fruit, candy. A- Copper color, clear liquid, white head. T- Oak, candy, malty. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Lovely aroma that didn’t quite carry over into the taste. Still nice.

Dark brown. Fruity, spicy from the yeast, rich and sweet, with raisins, toffee, molasses. Pretty fun quad. Not up there with the best of the Belgians, but pretty decent and enjoyable.

Shared 22 oz. bottle. Amber color with off-white head. Aroma of sour apple, malt, alcohol with similar taste, including a bit of caramel. A little sweet. Good carbonation. A little thin-bodied for the style. Not bad, but not really noteworthy.
