Spektakel is a 4,5% India Pale Lager with citrus peel that we brew for our friends at Bar Spek since a couple of months now. It is a fruity bottom fermented beer with a hop forward aroma and a good deal of citrus character, boosted by the addition of lemon and lime peel. Which also adds a bit of tartness to this easy going lager.

0.33 l bottle from 'Sterk Avondverkoop', bottled in September 2020. Clear, golden amber with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, white head. Slightly sweetish, fairly fruity-grassy and slightly floral aroma of fresh grass, pineapple and lemon peel. Slightly sweet, moderately bitter, fairly grassy, gently fruity-floral taste of pineapple, lemon peel, grapefruit, fresh grass and some grains, followed by a short, quite bitter, fairly grassy finish. Thin to medium body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Oedipus really knows how to brew good, hoppy Lagers.

33cl Fles van Oedipus Taproom. Typische India Pale Lager, wat zoetige moutbasis met frisse, fruitig-bloemige hop. Wat citrus en lychee, limoen, goede bitterheid. Wederom prima.

(Draught at Lager Lager, Neukölln, Berlin, 11 May 2019) Pale yellow colour with frothy, white head. Malty, hoppy nose with bread, grass, citrus and lemon peel. Malty, hoppy taste with notes of bread, grass, grapefruit, lemon and a balanced citric bitterness in a dry finish. Medium body, quite dry. Fresh and tasty lager, with a good hop presence. Quite nice.

Bottle from De Bierkoning @ home. Light ahzy golden color. Huge white head with long retention and lacing. Aroma's: grain, fruit, citrus. Retronasal it's quite citrussy, lemon, with grainy sweetness. Flavor is light bitter and light malty sweet. High carbonation, gushes in the mouth. Rather bitter finish. Even though it was 4 months after bottling and despite the high carbo, this was very pleasant.
