Bamberg Bash Day 1. Think this was tap. Hazy amber beer, small white head. Palate is light and dry and crisp. Minerals. Spicy cloves and banana over smooth wheaty malt. Finishes dry with a carbonated sting.

On tap. Pours a hazy yellow brown with moderate head. Aromas of yeasty dried bananas, light cloves and light grain. Flavors are similar and somewhat subtle. Session stuff.

Bottle from St Albans Beer: Shop. Poured a cloudy yellow colour with a dense, fluffy, off-white head. Strong aroma of cloves, yeast, orange and with a light meaty quality. Light carbonation in the mouth feel. Initial flavours of bready malt, soft fruit and light citrus. Finish was grass, coriander, wheat and some cured meat.

Bottle. Pours hazy light amber with abundant airy but stable white head. Clear aroma of yeast, hops and banana. Sweetish, malty and estery flavour with regular hoppy notes and pervasive banana overtones. Creamy mouthfeel despite relatively high carbonation.Sweetish and sourish aftertaste. A very decent German Hefeweizen.

Tap 500 Ml. Color turbio.

Tap at the Seven Stars, Rugby, 24/07/13. Have had this in Bayreuth but as always there’s a first time to actually rate it ! Dark orange amber with a moderately sized off white head. Nose is banana, light yeast, toffee, banoffee pie, sugars. Taste follows, light spice, toffee, nana, cloves. Medium bodied, fine carbonation with a little spritz. Solid weisse and put the UK cask beers in this pub to shame in terms of delivering both flavour and refreshment.

Tap at Inn Deep, Glasgow. It pours cloudy golden with a minimal white head. The nose is pretty sour actually, wheat, earth, faint smoke, spice and banana bread. The taste is earth, wheat, stewed orange, tangerine, light spice, crisp bitterness and banana foamy sweets with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Not a huge fan of the smell, but it is rather tasty. Decent.

Bottle at home, done from memory, rating is just for my own. I will edit if I drink it again, great solid German weizen, nothing more to say.
