Featuring one of the new wave of hop breeds accentuating the fruit-forward characteristics of North American native hops, Ekuanot is yet another answer to brewers craving distinctly North American hops. Paired with the intensely-fruity previously-named Brett Trois (actually it is wild Saccharomyces), this delivers layers of mango, melon and papaya.

Clear golden pour, some white foam on the top. Sweetish nose, some fruity base, simple caramel. Taste has a bit caramel, light, medium bitterness, super drinkable. Light grassy bitter linger in the finish. Good drinkable IPA, grainy malty base , good bitterness but still very drinkable.

Light golden color. Lime and tropical fruit notes with just a touch of funk in the background. Very dry nose. Very dry mouth, light body, a whallop of pale malt, tons of tropical hoppy notes, with moderately tart finish. The brett isn’t over the top but definitely there. Excellent.

Bottle: Poured a hazy orangey color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of mango and tropical fruit notes with some light funky yeasty flavours. Taste is a great mix of mango, tropical fruits with light funky flavours with a solid malt backbone and light residual sugar notes. Body is full with great carbonation. Great used of Equinox hops with yeast presence not as discernable as I had expected.

Bouteille 650ml. Gracieuseté de Erik-P lors du CanBIF Fall 2015, Thanks Erik! Couleur orangée légèrement voilée, mousse beige pâle aérée laissant une belle dentelle. Arôme de pamplemousse, houblon résineux, écorce de citron, touche poivrée. Goût d’agrumes, malt mielleux, houblon résineux, amertume plutôt élevée, levure. Carbonatation moyenne-faible, corps moyen-dense.

Bottle. Hazy dark blonde, so a little dull-looking. Thin, bubbly head. The aroma is hoppy first and foremost, with sticky pale malts and a touch of estery (peach) notes. Has a fairly estery character, again some gummy, stodgy pale malts and a slightly peachy, perfumey finish with just a touch of bitterness. Overall, a pleasant IPA but the malts are gummier than dollar store gnocchi and that obfuscates the yeast and hops.

650 ml bottle. Pours a clear gold with full head. Aromas of grass, pineapple, pine and citrus. Flavors of resin, bitter citrus, spruce/cedar and unsweetened gummy fruit. Can’t get any of the wild yeast - maybe too young. Like a fat Sartori Harvest. Hophead heaven.
