At the GKBF near COEX. Lakefront east side dark lager Pours a dark brown with a malty solid malty smoked chocolate caramel malt aroma. Smooth bodied with a balanced malty chocolate cake like flavor. Lovely

Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a pilsener glass.
There was a dark brown close to black color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute leaving some light lacing sliding into the beer.
The smell had a roasty nutty to chocolate coating over top of a light banana aroma.
The taste was mainly sweet through the fruity and malty chocolate - ness.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was good for the style and for me as it was noticeable but not overbearing. I have to admit there’s a really nice smooth creamy banana finish.
Overall, what a really nice beer that seemed to show that this could be a great dessert beer.

Bottle: Mahogany, red backlights, puffy tan head. Dark caramel, light smoke, chocolate malt aroma. Roast, caramel, mild smoked ham, wheat flavour. Creamy....smooth, malty.... I’m surprised this wasn’t listed as a smoked.... Wonderful, rich...a great beer.

12 oz. bottle purchased at Oliver’s Beverage Center, Albany, NY. Deep brown color, no head. Low carbonation. Aromas of sweet malt and dark fruit. Taste was caramel, coffee, chocolate and a moderate Earthy hop finish. Dirty malts. Overall, it’s a nice representation of a German style. Drinkable and could be a session brew even if it is a tad boring. If you like the style maybe it will grab you.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours dark brown with minimal head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and caramel. Taste is light bitter. Coffee and dark chocolate. Light bodied with a somewhat thin texture. Soft carbonation and not much of a finish. Overall, its ok. Lakefront has much better beers than this.

At a tasting, thanks DSG, small stable creamy head, clear and a little deep brown colour with red hues, light coffee with some dried fruits, flavour of dark sour bread, wood and coffee. Fair and drinkable.

Bottle. Beer of the month club. Transparent dark brown color with a beige head. Pleasant malty aroma, toasty and caramelly with light roasty notes. Pretty sweet flavor, malty and caramelly with some toasted bread, finishes slightly drier with a light roasty coffee notes. A well-made Dunkel, just a bit too sweet.

Bottle - Coffee as advertised, with a bit of sweetness. An almost opaque mahogany, with a minimal off white head. Rich texture with a roasted malt flavor, notes of coffee and hops and as advertised no bitterness in the finish. A decent beer, nothing exciting, but it is exactly as advertised.

Whole Foods, Bowery 12oz ($2): Pours a dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, and that distinct lager aroma. Taste is very mellow, with pretty much no bitterness. It is very easy to session. It ain’t very complex, but it is plenty pleasant to drink.
