Rare sake styles tasting at Platz (November 9, 2017). Light whitish yellow pour, slight haze. Nose has some pear skins, light herbal thing. Getting also slight ashes and touch of smokiness. Tastes light fruity, bit of apples-pears there. Touch of fireplace smoke coming up also in the taste. Dry and acidic aftertaste. Quite drinkable, light and chalky.

My first, possibly THE first, Japanese Perry! Baeren’s English Perry 2015 6% It pours an odd to me light pinkish-purple beige, I thought it looks like watermelon water. The nose is tart acetic pears, acidic vinegar like but interesting. Full sweet yoghurty, pears, tart, acidic and dry with some woodsy funk in the finish. I almost get a sweet celery salt kind of flavor from it. Pretty cool and I guess they’ll only improve over time. Kudos for them for trying something different.
