Bottle at Hair of the Dog, Bangkok. Poured a clear dark brown with a bubbly round off white head. The aroma is red berry fruits, light medicinal, light roast, some light caramel malt. The flavour is light bitter, with some sweet and sour notes, with a dry, slightly vinous, fruity palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

(Bottle, Japanese Canteen, Bethnal Green, London, 21 April 2016) Black colour with brief, frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of black rye bread, coffee and dark chocolate. Malty, roasted taste with coffee, chocolate, black rye bread and a balanced roasty bitterness. Medium body, quite dry. Tasty and well balanced black lager. Quite nice.

Hazy dark red - brown beer, small cream colour head. Palate is airy, semi dry and has decent fine carbonation. Tangy dark malts, touch of roast. Tangy unsweet dark chocolate. Pruney dark fruits. Smooth finish. Tangy malt linger. Not bad but a bit Porter like.

(Bottle) Clear black with ruby hints and thin small loose tan head. Nice aroma of roast malt, toast and coffee notes. Light body, moderate carbonation. Taste is dark treacle, although not particularly sweet. A little on the thin watery side. Some nice smokey toasty notes in the end. Easy drinking and unusual if a little understated.

330ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours clear dark brown with a thin tan head. Aromas of treacle and little else. Taste is more treacle, Cola. Sweet finish. Not my bag.

At the 8th tasting (round 1), held at Vlada’s Beerville pub in Belgrade-Serbia. Bottle courtesy of KansaiBeerLvrs, thank you sir. Pours reddish dark brown color, small no-foam. Nose: coffee, milky, fresh lactose, some sour notes, caramel. Mouth: milky, caramel, watery, very balanced, different. Liked it very much.
