Clear 500ml bottle, best before Feb 2010, drank Jan 2010 and poured into a vase shaped pint glass. Looks the part, good golden amber colour with a deep, rich, off-white cream coloured head. Bubbles could clearly be seen rising up through the bright beers body. Some heavy lacing was produced by the head as the beer was consummed. Ingrediants listed; Barley Malt (95%), Crystal Malt (4.2%) and Hops (0.8%). The hops used must be aromatic ones because they came out in the aroma very well, along with the malts. The malts dominated the taste, but not turning the beer into a sweet drink or overly malty to be honest. There was a bitterness throughout the tasting, a typical English bitter feel to it really. The beer was pleasant without setting the world alight with its flavours or mouthfeel. This is brewed for a supermarket shelf and is good value more than a good beer. I’d give it to friends, but might hide the bottle before they saw what it was!

Aroma is grassy with light hop followed by some malt and wood. Flavour has a nice biscuity, malty flavour and a fresh edge from the hop.

[500ml bottle that Jim shared with me - cheers!] Light amber with a slight beige head. Nice floral aroma, a light hoppy bitterness with citrus and floral hints. Pleasant enough easy drinker.

500ml bottle. Pours a nice golden colour with a tight white head. Aroma is grassy and bready, smells like a Sheppard Neame, which is fair enough, seeing as they’re the brewer! Not a bad beer, nice bitter finish. On special for £1, so worth it for that.

Dark golden with a small white head. Aroma of citrus and caramel with diacetyl. Sweet and thin caramel flavour with a little lemon peel and bitterness in the finish.

Bottled (at Chriso’s). Amber color, steady off-white head. Floral, dry citrus aroma, some toffee - "house aroma" of Shepherd Neame. Toffeish and nutty flavor. A bit fizzy carbonated. Aftertaste is quite quick.

Bottled (thanks to the best harrisoni in the world!). Nice honeyish golden colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is toffee, some grass, fruits and some flowery and wooden notes. Flavour is caramel, some fruity and wooden notes. Very pleasant notes of caramel and wooden notes in the aftertaste.

Amber coloured with a decent, off-white head and a slight carbonation. Caramel aroma with some tired floral hops. Flavour was a lot more enjoyable, with some sweetish malt, summer fruits and more lively floral hops. Finish was marred somewhat by the cardboard effect others have mentioned. Ok.

Bottle picked up at Asda, Peterborough, Camb’s 22-01-09 Pours amber (not really golden?) Aroma is sweet but there is also a little ashtray as weel. Taste is sweet, bit malty its ok and slightly better than anticipated but that’s not really a ringing endorsement, just totted up my score and surprised to see I’ve given it 3.1 must be feeling generous.
