Our Bärentöter is a strong crossover between Gose and Bock. This harmoniously complex beer is produced using an opulent mixture of six special malts with additions of coriander, orange peel salt, and a touch of cinnamon. A lactic acid fermentation is complemented by saltiness and malt body to create a perfectly balanced beer. On this basis fine fruit and spice aromas can unfold, making this Gose Bock something very special.

Short-lived off-white head over hazy ochre-orange beer. Putty, paint, orangepeel, coriander, faintly coloured malts, potter's clay. Sour, sour oranges, bit mineral. Lactic acid, flavours as from spicy Sauerkraut. Cloved orangepeel, sorrel, orangeblossom. Light body, well-carbonated, faint acidburn. Special, original! Bärentöter... Do I get some Karl May influences? Purchased @ Getränkefeinkost Leipzig

Bottle. Cloudy, amber in color with a medium head. Aroma is malty and fruity. Taste is not as sour as you would think actually really good.

Pours an almost perfectly transparent dark amber, quite hazy and slightly murky when pouring the final inches. Low to medium sized, large-meshed white head, quite quick to recede, no lacing. Quite good intensity in the aroma at first, but almost vanishes quite quickly (strange): strong lactic, slightly citric sourness, citric notes are of orange (kind of candied orange) and lemonish, quite vivid spiciness (coriander most noticeable), a hint of saltiness, perhaps a bit of caramel sweetness foundation. Overall a quite interesting aroma, but not very precise/defined and as mentioned pretty quick to fade. Taste is brighter, much cleaner/well defined than the aroma suggested and decently intense. Some caramel malts foundation now clearly discernible, pleasant citric notes (tangerine, lemon/lime), delicate but obvious notes of spiciness (mainly coriander) and saltiness. Sourness is mainly lactic, lighlty citric; it's a delicate, relatively neutral sourness flavour-wise. This is a quite sweet beer, low bitterness, but very much well balanced; sourness cuts sweetness in a very nice way and it is definitely dry and clean enough. Slightly below medium bodied, pretty light, very delicate, fine-bubbled carbonation; feels very smooth, actually quite silky and much more drinkable than expected for the abv. A very nice mouthfeel. Overall: a bit hindered by a not too attractive appearance and by a muted-down aroma, but still very much enjoyable and well made; also more refreshing than expected for the abv.

500 ml bottle from Vermont Beer Collective (formerly the Craft Beer Cellar) in Waterbury, Vermont. Hazy orange brown pour. Brief beige head. Spicy , funky malt aroma. Flavor is sweet and tangy with a hint of spice. Some lactic notes, but mostly a mix of dark fruits, orange, coriander and salt. Interesting. This might be my first Gose Bock.

Bottle, undated as far as I can tell, drunk 1/28/24. Amber-cherry, clear. Small, beige head sits at cover for a bit. Cherry, fig and, initially, a ton of coriander. It wears off leaving light lactic acidity and plentiful fruitiness, with a bit of toast and jammy character. Lactic character is light. Moderate malt with lots of cherry, fig and toast. Dry finish. Eh, I don't think this one comes together as well as some of their others, though there's nothing really wrong with it either.

Bottled (from Alko webshop). Copper colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is sweet fruits, some tart wood, mild spices, some alcohol sweetness as well as some raisins. Flavour is tart wood, some alcohol, sweet fruits, some raisins, mild plum with some dried wooden and mild salty elements. Really well balanced.
