Since our first bottle releases in 2009, our unwavering compulsion to
experiment has encouraged us to infuse our Imperial Stouts with spices,
fruits, and chilies. To create Bourbon Barrel Oro Negro, our cherished Oil
of Aphrodite was aged in Bourbon barrels and infused with cacao nibs,
vanilla beans, habaneros, and cinnamon sticks: A refined stout filled with
rich character and a touch of heat.

Bottle from De Bierliefhebber. Aroma is huge Bourbon with roasted malt, wood, vanilla, chocolate, cinnamon, and chili. Love those peppers. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet with some chili burn, moderate roasty bitterness, and a boozy touch. Body is full. Big and bold with lots of Bourbon barrel notes, and spicy chili. Really good.

Sample (thanks fonefan!). Black colour, small brown head. Aroma is bready, toasted, some nutty and mild wooden tones. Flavour is berries, some nutty, spicy and some alcohol burn to it. Lots of plum/raisins in the aftertaste. Almost plum pudding aftertaste.

Bottle. It's close to black in the glass, with a minimalistic beige head. The aroma is roasted and spiced, chili and cinnamon, heavy caramel and hints of licorice. Dark chocolate and some coffee. It's full bodied, warming in both a chili way and alcoholic way. Soft carbonation. The flavor has lots of dark chocolate, some chili and heavy caramel sauce, cinnamon and roasted malts. 375mL bottle, pours jet black with almost no head. Aroma brings out intense bourbon barrels, lots of cinnamon sticks, habanero, and cocoa nibs. Flavour is intense and well-integrated, with lots of cinnamon and habanero in good cohesion, followed by subtler notes of cocoa and vanilla. The bourbon rounds things out nicely but takes a backseat behind the spicy habanero and cinnamon. Very nice stuff.

Bottle split at L6 Tasting, thanks to Dave, 13/10/22. Black with a beige cap that dissipates edgewards. Nose is ripe dark fruits, spice, molasses, chocolate, coconut shavings. Taste comprises dark chocolate nibs, bitter roast, coconut, booze, charr, molasses, touch of cinnamon, subtle barrel soaked oak. Medium plus bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced rising boost. Solid BA affair.

0.375l bottle thanks to Lore. Brown body with no head. Aroma and taste of chillies, cocoa, chocolate, vanilla and some orange zest. Quite spicy, but nice nevertheless.

(Draught at Beer Temple, Amsterdam, 27 Aug 2022) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of coffee, dark chocolate, cacao, oak wood and bourbon. Malty, roasted, vinous taste with black coffee, dark chocolate, bourbon, oak wood, herbs, vanilla, cinnamon, and a slight chilli heat in a finish with a balanced roasty bitterness. Full body, quite sweet. Really tasty and complex, still in excellent balance. Ridiculously good beer.

Bottle shared at the Columbus tasting 13/10/2022. Many thanks to Wingmane. A thick dark mahognay brown coloured pour with a halo reluctant edge of dark tan head. Aroma is nice big boozy, bourbon, dark chocolate, spicy coconut, some toasted coconut, vanilla. Flavour is composed of medium sweet, spicy cinnamon brown sugars, dark chocolate, nutty coconut, woody tannin in the finish, Warming alcohol. Palate is medium sweet, oily, mellow carbonation, woody tannin. . Intense.

Tap at BeerTemple, 14th September 22. Pours a black and thick beast. Aroma is coffee, spice and pepper. Taste is hot pepper, cinnamon, coffee, there’s a load of chilli in here and I like it!
