Black color with a thin compact head. Very nice aroma of boutique coffee and ancho peppers. The mouthfeel is soft, but quite dry, and not as strong as expected; nice roasted malt flavor, some quality coffee, but also a quite high acidity level.
Very good, but a bit too dry and sour for me; I definitively would like to try a sweeter version.

Pours a thick, solid black, menacing and dense, yet the head is a no-show and lacing is nonexistent. Nose has a strong mocha leaning, maybe a slight vanilla thickness showing through towards the end. Tastes...raw, untamed, bursting with chocolate and coffee yet in need of some aging to tamp down the alcohol warmth. Starts with a decadent chocolate front that quickly transitions to a dark cherry sweetness, yet the finish grows java-laced and spiky, the booze adding an unwelcome abrasiveness to an otherwise decent beer. Fades with hints of chocolate and cardamom--I’m guessing the heat cancels out the vanilla--and screams for more time in the cellar. Could be amazing in a few months. Let it rest.

Can. Dark brown with reddish tint against the light, small creamy beige head, mocha aroma, low carbonation, spicy bitter chocolate taste with alcohol undertones, thin body, medium mocha finish. A bit sour, but well covered alcohol content.

Can @ home. Opaque pitch black color, huge moderately creamy beige head that lasts for a long time and leaves good lacing. Aroma is heavy heavy coffee, coffee beans and cocoa beans. Taste malts, again heavy heavy coffee, coffee beans, cocoa beans, dark chocolate, quite sweet and a little bitter at the same time. I like the aroma better than the flavor and I can see people who don’t drink coffee disliking this big time, but if you dig heavy coffee and dark chocolate this is quite nice.

330mL bottle, pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma brings out lots of coffee beans upfront, followed by the cardamom, and a little vanilla. Flavour is dominated by the cardamom upfront, followed by rich espresso, and with light undertones of vanilla and cocoa. The cardamom is odd but surprisingly fitting. Bold espresso on the finish. Nice stuff, but I'd prefer it without the cardamom.

From can, thanks to Alexis! Dark brown to black color with beige brown head. Aroma is coffee, roasted malty, caramel, spicy, licorice notes. Sweet, bitter and light acidic taste like aroma. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.

12 ounce can into snifter, best before 10/15/2018. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense and fluffy khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty dark roast coffee, vanilla, caramel, toffee, and toasted dark bread; with lighter notes of smoke, char, raisin, plum, licorice, cinnamon, pepper, clove, and herbal/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, cocoa/coffee, and spice notes; with great strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty dark roast coffee, vanilla, caramel, toffee, and toasted dark bread; with lighter notes of smoke, char, raisin, plum, licorice, cinnamon, pepper, clove, and herbal/roast/toasted earthiness. Moderate roast/char and herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty dark roast coffee, vanilla, caramel, toffee, toasted dark bread, smoke, char, pepper, and herbal/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, cocoa/coffee, and spice flavors; with a great roast/spice bitter/sweet balance, and no astringent flavors after the finish. Light dryness from roast/spice bitterness, increasing though the glass. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, fairly sticky, and lightly chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden, minimal warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a great spiced Baltic porter style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, cocoa/coffee, and spice flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. Very unique with the cardamom spicing, but it isn’t overwhelming to the base style flavors; though quite a bit more drying. Very rich, complex, and well balanced. A very enjoyable offering.
