Malty, Roasty and Deceptively Smooth. It's an easy-drinking malty Copper Ale that goes easy on the hops. Originally called the Kronik, this beer was censored by the federal label-approving agency, the BATF — they claimed the word had some sort of Marijuana reference. We slapped a “Censored” sticker on it as a joke and they accepted it. Whatever. Net contents: Ounces and ounces of Malt, Hops, Yeast and water.

Purchased at Armanetti’s in Chicago, IL; enjoyed on a nice Sunday night after a 4 mile run while watching Game of Thrones. Appearance is basically copper brown, pretty clear, rich white head upon first pour. Aroma is sweet and caramel malty. Taste is just pure caramel malt, slightly sweet, the finish is somewhat dry which is unique for the style. Lagunitas makes better beers, but that’s not to say that this one is bad. It’s ok.

355 ml. bottle. Clear, copper colour with a small, white head. Aroma is malty: with caramel, bread and a toasted note. Some resin hops as well. Taste is sweet and malty. Medium body with a creamy texture and soft carbonation. Finishes with caramel and bread. Nice beer.

Bottle. A more or less clear one, amber in color and with a dense, off-white head that lasts. Caramel maltyness, resiny hops and a touch of something almost roasted. It’s smooth on the palate, although a bit flat. Medium to full body. Caramel, malts, some toffee and a little bitterness in the flavor. Some bitterness in the finish too. Well, not bad at all, but I still think it’s too sweet. 120324

Bottle shared at a tasting at Dagan’s place. Clear amber color. Malty caramelly aroma, a bit fruity. Sweetish caramelly flavor with a bitter finish, slightly hoppy and and floral. Medium-bodied. Easy-drinking.

Draft at Dexters. Orange-tan, maybe filtered. Thin, odd patchy head. Medium bodied, mellow Copper Ale. Smooth toasty malt tones, some caramel, butterscotch. Pretty bland West Coast stuff, censored of any unique or interesting qualities. Syrupy sugary sweetness. Not impressive at all, certainly not chronic.

12oz bottle from Pick’s poured into a shaker. Pours a clear copper with about a finger of off-white head. Aroma of solid malt. Loads of caramel and a little coffee. Taste is medium bitter. Mostly piney hops and some nice caramel malt on the back end. Medium bodied with a creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a long bitter finish. Overall, it’s great. Would love to drink this again.
