Malty, Roasty and Deceptively Smooth. It's an easy-drinking malty Copper Ale that goes easy on the hops. Originally called the Kronik, this beer was censored by the federal label-approving agency, the BATF — they claimed the word had some sort of Marijuana reference. We slapped a “Censored” sticker on it as a joke and they accepted it. Whatever. Net contents: Ounces and ounces of Malt, Hops, Yeast and water.

355 ml bottle, as Lagunitas The Censored Rich Copper Ale, from Ølkonsortiet, Aalborg. ABV not mentioned on the label. Amber to copper colour, moderate off-white head. Fairly nice aroma of caramel and fruity hops, hints of old orange marmalade. The medium sweet flavour has also notes of caramel and a little fruit, but lacks hops and "freshness". Drinkable, but I expected more from Lagunitas.

This beer looks good, living up to the copper in its namesake. The head only improves this, lively and sticky and lasting. And, unfortunately, that’s it for the highlights. Censored tastes bland and sparse, with an unfortunate metallic backdrop. Very bready, with a tiny bit of sweetness, followed up by a dry but lacking hop finish. Not an awful amber ale, but not one I’d seek out. (1/20/09)

12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear copper with a medium tan head. The aroma is light fruit, lemon peels, cloves, and pine sap. The flavor is sweet up front with a mild bitter middle and finish. The palate is light and carbonated. Overall, a nice beer.

Refrigerated bottle poured into a glass. Pours a clear copper with small off-white head that dissapates quickly. Some lacing, grainy aroma, and lively carbonation. Taste is toasty malt (mostly caramel) with a slightly hoppy finish. Pretty enjoyable.

12 oz. bottle, pours clear amber with an off-white head. Aroma of brown sugar, caramel malt, sweet fruits and banana. Flavour is more muted than the aroma suggest - caramel malts, fruit, sour fruits, and a hop bitterness on the end. Not bad.
