Sample at Daily Growler Powell. Dark brown color with a thin tan head that recedes quickly to a film. Sparse small patches of lace. Roast malt, oak and berry aromas. Medium body with flavors of roasted malt, oaky vanilla and subtle blackberry. The finish is roasty malt and berry. Decent overall.

Black with a creamy head. Aroma is blackberry and more blackberry. Little else gets through. Sweet up front, tart at the finish, which goes in a medicinal direction. Despite all the flaws, not bad in small doses. Pleasant even, providing you like blackberries.

Deep robust dark brown coloured body with about an 85% opaque glow, all with a very thin, single centimetre tall rich deep tan head, atromhe lactose a of pungent vanilla, peat, lightly smoked malt, toffee, earth, nuts, flowers and ending with a touch of 'light' fruits - perhaps the blackberry here that's in the nose, but some alcohol is even stronger with this one. Medium-bodied; Very strong lactose. Vanilla and fruit notes at first that hit hard, but immediately show lactose, cream and a little bit of malt, right behind them with some very subdued coffee and chocolate notes with a dose of flavours to couple with the sweet finish that has a touch of bourbon at the end and has a touch of some alcohol, too. Aftertaste shows the sweetness first and foremost, mainly from the cream and lactose notes, but relatively light compared to the other, much softer notes. Overall, not sure what style this is supposed to be, but it's decent and flavourful, just a bit too simplistic and one side-eded espeically for a heavier body. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 10-July-2019 for US$2,99 sampled just a single day later at my house here in Washington on 11-July-2019.

Keg at Mr Brews Taphouse, 6.14.14. Dark orange brown, large creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of berry, oak, whiskey, chocolate. Taste is jammy berries, chocolate, mild whiskey and vanilla. Medium bodied, low carbonation.

Bottle. A- Berry, oak, cocoa, subtle booze, sweet. A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, tan head. T- Blackberry, sweet, oak, cocoa powder, alcohol. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, sweet finish. O- There was so much berry in here, it covered the base beer and soaked in some of that barrel aging resulting in a cloying liquor mess. Not terrible, but more like a strong fruit beer than Imperial Porter at this point. Okay.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 1/30/2018. Pours crystal clear deep ruby red/brown color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big juicy and lightly tart/tangy blackberries, plum, raspberry, red grape, fruit skin, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, coconut, coffee, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of blackberries, bourbon barrel, and dark/bready/light roasted malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big juicy and lightly tart/tangy blackberries, plum, raspberry, red grape, fruit skin, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, coconut, coffee, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Very minimal herbal/roast bitterness, bourbon/oak spiciness, and fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of lightly tart/tangy blackberries, plum, raspberry, red grape, fruit skin, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, dark/brown bread, light chocolate/coffee/coconut, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of blackberries, bourbon barrel, and dark/bready/light roasted malt flavors; with a solid malt/bitter/tartness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Slightly increasing dryness from lingering bitter/tart/spiciness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, and moderately creamy/bready/grainy/silky mouthfeel that is nice. Minimal chalky roast, fruit tang/acidity, and oak tannins. A tad thin, but nothing to really complain about. Minimal warming alcohol for 8.3%, with zero barrel booze lingering after the finish. Overall this is a very nice fruited barrel aged porter. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of blackberries, bourbon barrel, and dark/bready/light roasted malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV with the minimally bitter/tart/drying finish. Nicely jammy blackberries with balanced malt complexity; nice overall barrel presence/integration with no booze. A very enjoyable offering, and well made style example.

bottle, rated around Jan. 2017 - Pours near black and smells of roast malt, blackberries, and mild bourbon. The flavor is sweet with blackberries, roast malt, and subdued bourbon. It's fairly good but for me probably not worth the premium price these beers fetch.
