12oz bottle pours with a clear deep amber to rutty ruby red colored body that supports a light tan head of foam. The mild aroma offers up earthy tobacco nuanced malts, biscuit malts and a prune note. The taste delivers smooth malt and molasses sweetened supple earthy smoke and then sweet dark fruity esters of prunes and figs. The molasses and prune to date like esters mingle with fading smooth smokiness right into the finish. This scotch ale is hitting all of the right buttons for me for a slightly sweeter and lightly smoky take on the style. Dig it.

Keg at the Euston tap west. A reddy copper coloured pour with a a lasting frothy beige head. Aroma is nice layered malts, fruit cake, nutty, cranberry, jammy fruits. Flavour is composed of semi sweet nutty malts, jammy fruit cake, little. Marzipan, pine resinous hop. Palate is medium sweet, moderate carbonation, rounded. Lingering fruit loaf and pine hop. Quite fun.

Bottle. Pours a clear copper amber with a a tan head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma is full of sweet grains and caramel with a bit of a boozy note supporting. Flavor has lots of sweet grains and bread with some caramel and a light booze note underlying

12 oz bottle, poured. Purchased at Total Wine for basically pocket change. A quality scotch ale, of this strength, at this price. Awesome deal. Solid addition to the style. A nice copper pour. Smooth, toasty malt flavor. Good roast, almost smokey flavor that stays less than overwhelming. Mellowed out by a slight sweetness, that also remains less than overpowering. Balances out very nicely. Ideal scotch ale, and one of the better offerings I've had from these guys in recent memory. I could enjoy this scotch ale on a regular basis.

A little age on this bottle. Brown, and thick, lacing head. Lots of sweet malt and fruit, prune, raisin. Alcohol is prominent in the flavor as well as an unusually generous addition of hops that works with the beer, but is necessary for a Scotch ale. I did not pick up the promised smoke unfortunately.

Sampled on draft this beer poured a dark nut brown color with a medium sized creamy white head that left good lacing. The aroma was sweet and malty with pine and orange. The flavor was dark fruit, pine, toasty malts and a bit of wood. Medium length finish. Medium body. Ok.

12 oz bottle. Pours a deep red with some coarse particles. Aroma of toasty malt and honey, tea. Flavor has toasty, some peaty, malt with touches of berry, tea, and alcohol. Not bad, but could be a bit more flavorful.
