Bottle from Craft Brewed. Pours a clearish gold with a finger of white foam that lingers. Citrusy nose with some floral, coconut and light alcohol aromas. Citrusy on the palate, touch of pine and dank bitterness. Finishes smooth. Very enjoyable. --- Beer merged from original tick of Ballast Point Aloha Sculpin on 12 Apr 2018 at 20:52 - Score: 7. Bottle. Pours cloudy rich yellow with large foamy whitish head, citrus aroma, medium carbonation, medium bitter citrusy taste, thun body, long finish. Couldn't really get the 'tropical' flavors.

Bottle from 7-11. Hazy golden coloured. Supposed to be a hazy ne-ipa. Its ok, with a little juicy milkshake-ness but otherwise very similar to the regular sculpin. Short dry finish, fairly bitter. Could've been better.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 3/6/2018. Pours slightly hazy deep golden amber/light orange color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of huge tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berry, citrus peel/rind, pepper, pine, toasted bread, light caramel, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Incredible aromas with fantastic complexity and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops, Brett yeast, and moderate bready malt notes; with big strength. Taste of big tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berry, citrus peel/rind, pepper, pine, toasted bread, light caramel, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus rind, herbal, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berry, citrus peel/rind, pepper, pine, toasted bread, light caramel, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops, Brett yeast, and moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero lingering hop astringency after the finish. Moderate increasing dryness from bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, bready, grainy, sticky, resinous, and rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 7%. Overall this is a fantastic IPA. All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops, Brett yeast, and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and easy to drink with the moderately bitter/drying finish, never overly aggressive. Fantastic juicy, dank, and vibrant hops; solid bready malt backbone, with no residual sweetness. Really great levels of tropical Brett complexity, along with the usual citrus/fruity/resinous classic Sculpin hop profile. A highly enjoyable offering as expected.
