Keg at the MTB CBC Holborn, 28/02/15. Hazed orange golden with a moderate off white swirl. Nose is lime juice, big pickle / gherkin notes, light spice, dill, straw. Taste comprises pickle juice, herbal notes, straw, soured gherkin, light citric must. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. They’ve pulled this off well for what it is!

Craft near Tottenham Court Road war zone. Keg. Thanks to Mr Frog. Hazy gold beer, no real head. Palate is light, crisp and dry. Fine minerally carbonation. Light lime, cucumber and gherkin on the nose. Taste follows the nose but cucumber dominates until a little herb kicks in and then up pops the gherkin! Finishes light and dry with mild ripe citrus coming through. Interesting and fairly quaffable.

Keg at Craft CG. It pours hazy gold with pretty much no head. The nose is unmistakably that of gherkin, sweet, tangy, vegetables and McDonald’s cheeseburger. The taste is somewhat tamer....smooth, tangy, mild gherkin, umami, grainy, cracker, pepper and touch of vinegar. Light body and soft carbonation. A unique beer for sure. Fun to try, but I am dubious whether I could drink much of this!

Keg at the craft beer co. Dull translucent orange / golden fleeting off white head. Aroma is meaty gherkin, little salt, veg, hint of musty sour. Little vinegar on the nose as well. Flavour is dull grains, little thin, stale brown bread, gherkin, veg, salt. Gherkin character is OK, but the overall is a bit dull. Palate is medium dry, moderate carbonation. Lingering wheat grains, veg and slight sour mustyness.

Light sweet flavor with mild sour bite, faint vinegar, berries, drying wood. Light bodied with spritzy carbonation. Light tangy finish, some more wood, berries, gherkin impressions, grass, citrus. Novel, tasty.
