Aged for 12 months in 10-year-old Kentucky bourbon oak barrels in abandoned limestone mines accentuates a robust sweet maltiness and slight herbal hop bitterness. This alluring dark liquid hides within it undertones of vanilla, oak, cocoa and coffee. But beware, at 12% a draught of this fine ale just may be your ticket straight down to Davey Jones’ Locker!

Bottle @ home shared with Caesar. Opaque pitch black color, average sized beige to light brown head that diminishes fairly quickly. Aroma is malts, bourbon, vanilla, bourbon rum soaked raisins. Taste malts, bourbon, dark overripe fruits, dark malts and bitter. Full body, medium carbonation. Very nice.

12 oz bottle from Tavour. Nose is chocolate, light bourbon, and vanilla. Black with a medium tan head. Flavor is bourbony, with vanilla and chocolate. Nicely flavored, better than the aroma by itself.

(bottle) clear, bright, dark brown colour with a small beige head; aroma starts with wet wood, jam, develops into vanilla, dried fruit; rich, balanced flavour with a long, light bitter finish, well hidden alcohol

On tap at patricks in moon. Big & black. Somewhat neutral aroma. Big strong initial boozy impact. A little more rude than I was expecting. Big volatile kick in the jaw. Quite ruff indeed. Coarse around the edges. Difficult, almost like floor stripper. If there is any co2, I’d say its well hidden by this nasty impact. A strong over th top alky beer experience fer sure. Did not like.

Dark brown color. Off white head. Slightly sour nose with lots of bourbon and some chocolate malt. Fairly nice sweet mouth with decent alcohol burn and bourbon. Decent but fairly straight forward. Good.

Willrunforbeer struggling to remove the wax off the top of the 12 oz. Bottle, why are brewers still waxing bottles? It does nothing to keep out air *sigh* anyhow, is straight up Rye whiskey, no hiding that. Nothing but whiskey. The flavor has a weaker note of whiskey then the aroma was leading me to believe. Roast, chocolate and integrated barrel. Body is what you find for Porter, a tad thin. But the flavor is very nice.
