Bottle shared by javib458. Pours with a deep black body with a small tan head. Aromas are roasty, raw wort, caramel, alcohol and a little bit of cocoa. Smells like raw wort (underattenuated). Flavors are sweet, roasty, bitter, oak, licorice, some alcohol. A bit harsh. Some astringencies. A bit too sweet for me as well.

750ml Bottle thanks to footbalm. Pours out black topped with a small brown head. Aroma is sweet with a mix of candy, dark chocolate, licorice, coffee, and some pit fruit. Taste is more of the sweetness along with plenty oak, coffee, vanilla, caramel, and more pit fruit.

Bottle at Mes Tasting. Pours dark brown with a medium beige head. Dark malt aroma with some modest cocoa and light roast. Rich flavor, quite sweet, has a strong peat presence with coffee grounds and pungent booze. Full bodied with average carbonation. Warming finish, lots of burnt sugar, mild caramel, roasted malts, peat, licorice, faint hard alcohol notes and some wood. Very good.

750 c&c from Malt & Vine. Pours very black with a slight dark tan head. Licorice/anise aroma simply from the pour. In the glass there’s chocolate and arguably oak. Full bodied with foamy carb. Flavor is anise/chocolate. Notes of vanilla/oak. It’s lightly sweet, but somewhat bitter. Maybe near balanced. Pretty tasty thing.

Best beer of the night at Paradiso Alexandria, deftly served by Collin. Black, with massive, thick dull brown head. Aroma of dark roasted coffee beans and melted Hershey bars. Taste is bourbon! Thick and chewy, oak, smoke, cocoa. Shows its alcohol.

This nice big 750 is courtesy of my Utah hook up extraordinaire douglas88, thanks again! I’ve had this for a while now (maybe 8 months). It pours dark mahogany with mocha head and spotty lacing. What?! The aroma is bold rich pure yum with a mix of caramel candy, black strap molasses, some burnt toffee, malt balls, mild prune notes and just a bit of booze at the end of the draw. Smells wonderful and hides the huge ABV very well. The taste is just as good, wonderful, with loads of chocolate, black strap molasses, slick slippery sweet malts, some black licorice and mild spicy oak like notes. I expected this to be a booze harsh brew but luckily I was completely wrong. Smooth rich bold and brilliantly good. (Need more of this).
