Stone Sanctimonious IPA represents the elevated state of reverence that Stone extols for the venerable and almighty Hop. Amarillo & Simcoe hops have been anointed to bestow their divine qualities on this sacred brew. This limited release is part of Stone's Hop Worship Seasonal IPA Series... Glory be to those who imbibe it in its freshest form... and faithfully worship thy Hop in the beauty of blissful bitterness.

Our third Stone Hop Worship Series release goes back to two of our favorite “retro” hops: Amarillo and Simcoe. These hops really aren’t that old as their development only goes back to the late 90s/early 2000s but with all the innovation out in the hop world, they seem like they’ve been around for a while. Sometimes taking a step back and appreciating what we already have is another form of innovation. These hops combine for a myriad of cool hop aromas and flavors including old school West Coast IPA attributes along with new school tropical qualities. It’s a perfect way to end the year’s Hop Worship Series.

12oz can pours with a clear gold body that supports a thin near white head of foam. The aroma offers up floral hops, mango, a thin layer of black pepper kernels and some spicy onion. The taste delivers similar notes of bitter floral hops, juicy mango, a dash of clementine and then more floral hoppiness. Toward the finish there's a faint berry sort of passion fruit sensation. Pretty nice bitter hop forward IPA.

Can picked up from Biervana, Munich, Germany. We're in our log cabin in Dachau, Bavaria, Germany Friday 18th January 2019 listening to Iggy Confidential on 6 Music. Cooking Salmon and cream cheese lasagne. Pours clear gold with a white head, superb clarity. Sweetness initially but with an underbelly of bitterness. Good beer, a touch minty, curly hop attack, really like this, citrussy. Good, really good . A8 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 4.0

On tap at Portland Craft, pours a hazy golden with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out bright piney hops and a biscuity malt backbone - standard. Flavour is quite citrusy and herbal in the hop department, with a biscuity malt base. A bit too herbal for me, but it's well-constructed. Decent.

06-01-18 // tap at Stone Brewing BWG Berlin. Not a Pilot anymore. Almost clear shiny golden, solid hiwte head. A very classic Westcoast style IPA with a solid malty body and loads of pine and citrus flavours. Good.

Can. Golden, lowish carbonation, fluffy golden head. Fresh pineapple aroma. Medium full body, a bit resiny sticky, but enough carbonation to break it up. Broad, grassy, piney, and tropical hop notes, cranberry juice tartness, pleasant balanced finish. This one I like.
