3 Fonteinen (Oude) Kriekenlambik is the result of macerating hand-picked whole sour cherries on young lambic for at least four months, in a proportion of one kilogram of fruit per litre of lambic (and possibly blended with some more young lambic). Fruit intensity ranges from minimum 35% to 50%. Aside some selected bars (e.g. 20th Anniversary of Akkurat in Stockholm, Sweden), this sour cherry lambic is available at given times in the lambik-O-droom.

Bottle from De Bierliefhebber. As "3 Fonteinen Oude Kriekenlambik 2016-2017 Assemblage No. 32". Aroma is tart cherries, rich red fruits, red currant, and light funk. Flavour is quite tart and medium sour with a hint of sweetness. A bit young maybe, but awesome red fruits all-around.

Odd. Sour and sweet, very little top notes but strong red cherry base note, turns quite dry and tart. Minimal acidity, considering it's a lambic could even call it watery. The cherry flavor is very nice, but overall feels watered down. Nice.

On tap at the Star & Garter, Bromley. Reddish purple pour with a pink head. Nose is sour cherries, redcurrants, strawberry jam, balsamic vinegar, red plums. Similar action in the taste with the usual funky sour adjuncts. Nice.

25 cl draft at ’t Brugs Beertje in Bruges, Belgium. The pour is reddish, juice like, with a minimal pink white head. The aroma is cherry fruit, funk, the traditional 3 Fonteinen yeast, and more cherry, including the skin. The taste is a nice blend of the Lambik, 3 Fonteinen yeast and the cherry fruit, lovely soft flavors wonderfully integrated. The palate is medium to light bodied with soft natural carbonation and the pleasant cherry fruit, skin and funk finish.

Draught at The Sovereign: pours deep red with whitish head. Aroma is loads of cherry, loads of funk. Taste is sweet, some acid and sourness. Nice and pleasant funk. Quite good.

Area Four draught, 9/24/24. Season '20-'21, blend 15. Hint of haze, deep black cherry. Small, pink head sits at light cover. Juicy, rich, deep cherry. Tart, low sweetness, not overly acidic, though. Nicely balanced. Deep, mellow, rich lambic culture shows big Brett notes with mild lactic and no acetic. Right where you want it to be. Wheat and oak gently provide structure. Bright, juicy, highly macerated cherry leaving very little juiciness behind, lots of skin/tannin. Dry, wheat-heavy lambic with soft oak blandness. More spicy cherry emerges with warming. Could stand a bit more texture and richness here, but I applaud the relatively low lactic character and big cherry and Brett flavors.
