Our Barley Wine is the most special beer we make, being produced only once every year. It’s a blend of different bourbon barrel-aged vintages that have spent more than a year in wood. We blend the different barrels, and add a bit of freshly brewed Barley Wine to obtain the best possible version.

This year, the Barley Wine was brewed using a double-boil technique in which we evaporate the beer to a high concentration of sugar, add water back to the wort, and then boil it down again to increase Maillard reaction processes and build up some intense caramelization. We went easy on the hops to allow the malt and bourbon characteristics inherited from the barrels to be the champions of this beer.

The aromas and flavours are intense, and should be enjoyed slowly by serving at room temperature to allow even more layered nuances to shine through and add to the
beautiful complexity of this beer. We hope you enjoy this as much as we do.

Last bottle @ The Armoury Bar, Riga. Dark brown body under a small beige head. Strong and rich aroma of dark, smooth roasted malt, dry fruit, caramel, chocolate, mild Bourbon, some vanilla, wood and warming alcohol. Taste is sweet with everything found in aroma, balanced bitterness and nice warming alcohol. Fine body and long lasting aftertaste. Very nice, sweet, malty, warming sipper with lots of complexity.

Dark brown, near black, little bit of tan head. Smells rich, high quality malty, bit sweet, bourbon. Mouthfeel is deep, sticky, with a bit sharp carbonation for me. Taste is suuuper rich, intense savoury raisin, soaked in bourbon and soy. Mad delicious.

Bottle. 2018 vintage. A hazy dark brown beer with a minimal sized beige head. Sort Of oily. The aroma is sweetish, with caramel sauce, roasted malts, dark dried fruits, alcohol, dark chocolate, wood hints and some treacle hints. It's Full bodied and pleasantly warming, smooth and softly carbonated. Sweet flavor with toffee, roasted malts, coffee hints, dark dried fruits, some woody tannins and a boozy touch in the flavor. Lasting finish continuing in the same direction. Delicious indeed. 201211

Very dark brown with a ring tan head. Aroma of bourbon, oak, booze, vanilla, caramel, fudge, raisins, overripe dark fruit, dried fruit, butterscotch, chocolate almost. Flavour is heavy sweet with above moderate bitterness. Full bodied with alcohol warmth in the finish and soft carbonation. Very good, it’s close to how I remember Angel’s Share being, though I haven’t tried that one for several years.
