Our Barley Wine is the most special beer we make, being produced only once every year. It’s a blend of different bourbon barrel-aged vintages that have spent more than a year in wood. We blend the different barrels, and add a bit of freshly brewed Barley Wine to obtain the best possible version.
This year, the Barley Wine was brewed using a double-boil technique in which we evaporate the beer to a high concentration of sugar, add water back to the wort, and then boil it down again to increase Maillard reaction processes and build up some intense caramelization. We went easy on the hops to allow the malt and bourbon characteristics inherited from the barrels to be the champions of this beer.
The aromas and flavours are intense, and should be enjoyed slowly by serving at room temperature to allow even more layered nuances to shine through and add to the
beautiful complexity of this beer. We hope you enjoy this as much as we do.

Bottle shared for Sjogro's birthday tasting. Very dark brown with small head. Bitter oak, vanilla, leather, red wine. Medium sweet, quite bitter, light sour. Over medium bodied, dry tannic finish. Maybe aged too long, it's very dry.

(Bottle) Hazy dark brown colour with brief, beige head. Malty, fruity, vinous nose with dried fruit, caramel, raisins, figs, prunes, burnt sugar, oak wood, bourbon and spices. Malty, fruity, vinous taste with notes of caramel, dried fruit, raisins, figs, dates, molasses, bourbon, oak wood, vanilla, coconut and a vinous and boozy finish with a mild spicy bitterness. Full body, quite sweet. A bit boozy, but rich, warming and really tasty. Excellent beer!

The twelfth of twenty-one beers for our 11th wedding anniversary. Harínmut's. Bottle 0.33l, four and half year aged. Hazy, copper to brown colored. AROMA- nice bourbon, caramel, dates, plum, cherry, my father's sour cherry liqueur, raisins. FLAVOR- sweet, moderately bitter, warming, bourbon, my father's višňovka again (with orange peel), fruit jam, the same as aroma, strawberry. Full, a bit syrupy body. Really nice barley wine.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from Beer Merchants Tap. Pours clear cola brown with a fizzy, quickly fading tan head. Medium to heavy sweet flavour with ample semi-dark mats, some brown sugar, toffee, old bread, dates, raisins, booze, bourbon. Full bodied, lightly chewy, with spritzy carbonation. Warming finish, lightly sticky, more dates, figs, bourbon, brown bread. Fairly hot. Good overall.
